Elminx rambles about weekly magic
I have a set of goalposts that I implement for every week, using Habitica to keep track of my to-do list. These are a mix of onerous tasks (notably cleaning my space) and more fun activities like watching something fun, learning something new, and reading/doing art. I consider this all "magic" in its way as I'm a folk witch who tends to weave my magic in with the mundane rather than the other way around.
Some things I endeavor to do on certain days of the week. This started as a lark to "test" the theory on day-of-the-week style magic. I was pretty skeptical but have found that it actually holds up pretty well and does, in a generalized sense, help me to tap into the planetary energies better. I have found that I look forward to particular days of the week and the "tasks" that I set for myself during them.
As an example, I thoroughly clean my kitchen and feed/water my altars every Moonday. I am not somebody who traditionally has enjoyed cleaning (I do enjoy organizing, though, thanks to my Mars in Virgo) but I do deeply appreciate a clean space that is free of clutter. I have noticed that in the keeping with a schedule that I will clean my kitchen and altars on Mondays, it takes much less effort than when I miss a Monday and am forced to do it on a different day of the week. Additionally, if I have a desire to do an additional "watery" task that week (mopping the floors, cleaning the windows, etc.), I prefer to add this to my Moonday tasks. I have implemented a weekly task that I affectionately call "Research Wednesdays". I'm very Mercurial and I LOVE to learn - this allows me to ensure that I carve out a tiny bit of each week for exploring some fun topic that I wish to know more about. Sometimes it's a couple of pages of a book or a documentary - other times it's two hours of note taking on a bigger research project. I do what I have the energy to do. I find that it is easier to get my ADHD brain to sit down and do this kind of work on a Wednesday. Because I am my own boss and I work from home, I have a lot of leeway with my personal work schedule and I can pick and choose what days/hours I choose to work at will. I prefer to work harder on Tuesdays when I am supported by Mars and Thursdays when I am supported by Jupiter (sometimes Saturdays if I really need to grind it out and get something done - Saturn is good for that). Unless I have a big deadline, I often will take Moonday to do personal tasks and pick up my work on Saturday if I haven't finished off my weekly goals.
There are bits and pieces of magic that I work every week. I have a day that I have set up to do protection magic - some weeks it's just reinforcing the chant that I use to maintain my energetic wards, other weeks it's something bigger and more time-consuming. I work my long-term prosperity/foundational goals on either Thursdays or Saturdays as Jupiter and Saturn help with building the future. It is worth noting, though, that these are just guidelines and one of my big life goals at the moment is to give myself more leeway when I don't have the time or energy to set out to do all of my endless tasks. There are times that my Mars in Virgo is an intense taskmaster and a big goal in my life right now is practice, not perfection.
