#weekly theme: alien

Impulse has done a lot of strange things as Pearl's friend, but spraying water over her head as she tearfully, dramatically cries and begs (on her knees, hands clasped together) for Gem to take her back (cuddle her again after a week of being ignored), promising she'll be better this time (not bothering Gem for pickles) and treat her right (not putting her alien goo on Gem's shirts). At some point, Impulse has to refill his buckets with the not-so-subtle infinite water source behind Pearl (in full iron blocks, because salt water irritates Pearl's skin, and it's shockingly difficult to get salt-free water on a server of reality-breakers.), fully in view of Gem, including her watching over Pearl's head as he has to fully reset his hose.

Honestly, this has to put him in top three best friends ever. Top five, at least.

Gem has the kind of look that suggests Impulse is not currently in her top five friends. Likely not the top ten, either. Impulse isn't even convinced he counts as a friend right now.

But hey, if it gets these two back on speaking terms (cuddling) then he's sure Gem will forget about it eventually!

(She will not and will bully him forever.)

The hermits don't compliment Cleo's body itself very often. Cleo is an alien parasite that took over the body of a dead woman.

It feels... weird to be complimented for a body that isn't your own. Cleo didn't work for these never-changing muscles, or softness, or smile. No part of her as a person (parasite?) was involved in choosing to have three tattoos. They don't know where the small scar on the lower back came from.

The hermits, instead, compliment and praise Cleo for herself. It's Cleo that dresses like that, Cleo that took the time to learn magic to stop themselves from stinking or from falling apart, it's Cleo that uses that strength to pick the hermits up and force them around when they fail to care for themselves.

And, well, the hermits do compliment the body sometimes. Hey, Cleo picked well!

It helps that Cleo is a very easy person to compliment. Witty and clever and full of sarcasm... The hermits will always say they're lucky to have met her!

Joel actually crashed into Lizzie's front door as an alien. Lizzie wasn't too keen with her door being brokened-neither is she happy with her walls destroyed but somehow, they ended up married.

It's likely to do with the fact she told Joel to fix it, and he actually did. She didn't expect that part! And it was super cute. She knew he was a keeper there and then! Even if he's from a different planet!

People think Grian is joking when he says his wife is out of this world. That is until they see the extra limbs, big beady black eyes, and moon-colored skin.

She's out of this world in being amazing and everything too, duh. Sometimes, if they're feeling particularly troublesome, he likes to pretend that really is all he meant. Then Pearl jumps in with the, "Wow, you thought he called me that because I'm an alien? That's a bit rude, isn't it?"

It's a well practiced routine. Guaranteed to get annoying people off their case.

When looking at Keralis and Xisuma, it is difficult to tell which is the alien between them. It could also be both, or maybe it's neither. An equal share of people say both, and neither will let anything slip.

It's their secret.

Wels? Oh he's human. His boyfriend Jevin.... Eh, it's hard to say

Wels used to feel the need to tell people Jevin was, well... Slimey before they met him. He thought it would protect Jev, but Jevin never really cared.

No, he loves gaslighting people. He's mastered the art of announcing he's human with no sarcasm or joke in his voice. Anybody would believe him, if not for the fact they were looking at a skull (not even human shaped) suspended in blue slime and a hoodie.

Wels leaves him to his game now. Him and his ambiguously human boyfriend.

In honour of alien (the best theme) having most of the votes, may i present the idea that made me vote for it:

pearl edited as those images of the kittens captioned with "gleep glorp" and tinted green and those little antennae. the big black circular eyes. you know the ones

They've tried it with other hermits, but Pearl works best. Grian likes to say she has the best energy! Also, you know. Being an alien.

Welsknight isn’t human, clearly. However he is a sort of personification of light. Not the sun, not stars. Just light. Because of this his eyes give off a slight glow. As well his hair which is normally blonde, turns into light; when he feels strong emotions. The hermits use him as a nightlight, and if they ever lose light in their base. Guess who they mayormaynot kidnap.

It means if they ever want to get some sleep with Wels, he has to wear a nightcap. It's adorable. And it means his hair looks wonderful in the morning.
