01 | Weekly udpate
Hello everyone! How are you? I hope you're all doing great. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting so much support on the blog in the past few weeks—especially since I’ve been focusing on my projects and this week I’m starting a new semester at university. I really want to thank you for that; being my first time stepping into this space on Tumblr, it makes me very happy. Reading and writing have been an important part of my life, and having this space with you makes me feel included.
With that in mind, I made this small sketch to thank you for all the support and kindness I've received in the past few days. I hope you like it!
The theme color of this blog is blue. I usually make my sketches in black and gray. However, I want to start pushing my limits and trying new things. This is a new stage in my life, and knowing that I have the support of my audience makes me very excited.
Now, let’s get to the important part of this blog: my weekly updates. It seems they have a lot to do with my readings and the projects I’m currently working on.
ABOUT MY READINGS
I’m super stuck, I won’t lie to you. Since November, I’ve been reading 'Muerte en el Pentagonito' by Ricardo Uceda. It’s a testimonial and historical account of my country’s events from 1980 to 2000. And I swear, it’s been making me absolutely furious with everyone involved except for the author. Everything I’ve read so far has only left me more shocked than I thought I would be.
However, to ease things a little, I’m currently on chapter 9 out of 20, which means we’re this close to reaching the halfway point—yippie!
Update: I’ve reached the halfway point. This is great news.
But I’m still stressed out by everything in this book. I simply can’t handle it much longer—but of course, Miss Roseheart had to read about what happened in her country, didn’t she? Anyway, that’s all from me regarding this first book.
As for my other read, it’s 'Forget My Name' by Zero Calcare. I have a strong opinion about comics, manga, and graphic novels: to me, they are literature. With that in mind, I wanted to read one of his graphic novels, and since I’ve mentioned this one, it has really caught my attention. I’ve been skimming through it digitally, but I want to write a proper review, so I need to reread it to take notes and post my thoughts here.
Now, for my to-read list: 'Shadowhunters' by Cassandra Clare—this one is an absolute must—an intensive art-focused reading of 'The Diary of Anne Frank', and 'Wings of Starlight' by Allison Saft. And you guys have no idea how badly I want to finally read this book! YOU HAVE NO IDEA! I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS BOOK FOR SO LONG!
And that concludes my weekly reading update. Please pray for me to finish 'Muerte en el Pentagonito' before March, because I need to read more books this year :(.
ABOUT MY PROJECTS
Things have been getting a little out of control when it comes to writing. Over the past few days, we’ve been working on Bloodline and some smaller projects. However, I want to focus more on Bloodline in this update. Oh, and a few more things!
As the producer and screenwriter for the episodes, we’re about to reach the stage where we start writing the scripts. However, writing a script is not the same as writing a chapter of a novel. I’ve written very few scripts in my life, but I’ve decided to take this as an opportunity. Not only am I learning about illustrated production scripts, like the ones for Bloodline, but I’m also understanding their differences from comic scripts —such as Joke’s Memories— and an anthology of comics I’ve been slowly working on.
We’ve put a lot of work into Bloodline —and when I say a lot, I mean A LOT of content.- Not just in terms of writing outlines, but also in the production of artistic material. Since we have so many ideas within the team, agreeing on things has been quite an experience. We’ve had shared ideas as well as debates on how everything should fit into the project. However, I’m really happy that everyone is satisfied with the work, and soon, several new updates will be released.
I’ll be working on a blog post focused on the comic, which will also be published on Instagram and TikTok. I’ll be sharing my process and tips that will be really helpful!
SURPRISE, I COMPLETED A DOMESTIKA COURSE!
Yes, it seems like it came out of nowhere, but I’ve finished my first Domestika course on writing! I took the 'Character Creation for Novels course', and I really enjoyed studying character development. It reinforced a lot of what I already knew, but this is just the beginning. I understand that I’m only getting started, but… I want to pursue further studies to improve myself.
I’ll be publishing my course project here soon, and I hope you’re excited because there are a few surprises that have been coming together over the past few weeks. As the university semester begins, I’ll be looking into how to better manage my time. If possible, I’d like to join the university’s theater group to strengthen my skills in visual and expressive interpretation so I can apply them when writing dialogues or important scenes. But if that doesn’t work out, I’ll focus on studying more and making the most of my time to get as much out of this blog as I can!
AND THIS WAS EVERYTHING!
Thank you so much for reading the blog, and sorry for not updating you until now. Now that my schedule will be more structured, I’ll be better organized when it comes to working on projects.
I’ll do everything I can to improve and be more active here. I’m really happy to see all the support. Though I have to admit, this is the first time I’ve received so much at once, and sometimes I feel that fear of not meeting expectations. Truly, thank you for the support. Until then, try to be happy.
