We got a runner!  - Follow Up

Over a month later I receive a text from Joshua, the “runner.”

It reads: 

“Hi Brittany, I’m sure you don’t care to talk to me or hear from me at all. I just want to say that I’m really really sorry for being such a piece of shit. I know that is exactly what I am and I wish I could take back all of this junk I’ve done to you. You really are amazing and such a nice person. We both know I don’t deserve someone as good as you. My reason for “running” again had nothing to do with you. I ended up having an ex talking to an ex and them both talking and showing up together when I came home. So basically I was maxed out and couldn’t handle anything else in my life at the time. I don’t have too much time left before I leave again! Which is obviously my own problem. But I just didn’t want you to think that you did anything wrong at all. The only thing wrong that you did was have feelings for a crappy person that even fools himself on being a “good guy” or whatever. So I am sorry and you deserve someone way better than me. I mean it. I have a lot to fix and or change in my life and I really hope I can do that soon. I wish you the best and by no means expect a reply or anything from you. I just wanted to tell you this and should have said it a long time ago.”

My response:

“You’re a piece of shit. I thought you were dead.”

He answers: 

“I know. I’m really really sorry. You have been nothing by amazing to me you didn’t and don’t deserve that at all.”
