I'm a magic disability enjoyer and I'm curious about the "magic overload syndrome" . thing

OHH YES!!! Someone curious as to what it is ehehehe >:3

Magic overload Syndrome (MOS) Is a condition that happens when someone who has LV higher than 10 spikes to rapidly or isn't discharged through normal activity. Its when the user's magic builds up faster than the body can circulate, leading to the excess magic having no where to go! SO it leaks out of the body!

What usually causes it are various things! Rapid LV Gain is one to start with, usually for those who kill in short amount of time to gain more! Another is when the subject isn't doing anything to expel that magic naturally, usually when they aren't taking place in physical combat or working out regularly! Other ways to expel it more naturally is also intimate companionship or using suppressions!

Though suppressions are only safe to those with 20+ LV, like Dust or Killer for example! MORE BELOW BECAUSE I WENT ON SUCH A LONG RAMBLE IM SORRY-

Now lets go into physical symptoms! Like I mentioned before, the biggest thing of MOS is that the magic their body holds expels from the body, specifically through the joints!

It'll seep from fingers, knees, spine joints, anywhere considered a joint! (As this is specifically for skeletons...) It can look like vapor, flames, lava, or whatever matches the individuals magic! It hurts, and if not expelled like it needs to be, it can cause their bones to split, crack, or even break entirely.

Another thing that occurs is sudden strength spikes, this can happen through actual physical strength or magic. Though it can be unstable depending on how far they've gone without expelling it! The subject's grip can be overcorrecting, crushing stone if they grab a railing, break & crack floors by stepping to hard, and snapping things in half unintentionally.

It also causes some sensory distortion, often messing with perception! Sounds will become to loud, smells overwhelming, and vision tinted by the color of their magic. Emotions can also be amplified in the wrong way, such as the subject feeling angry becomes volatile, being afraid makes them reactive and defensive, and jealousy can make them territorial and possessive!

The subjects magic can also discharge in ways they don't mean to, like magical attacks summoning when they don't mean to, accidental blasts if they move their hand wrong, or their magic lashes out in reaction to their emotions! And often sometimes hurting people nearby who get caught in that crossfire!

Of course there's an instinctual behavior shift, the body tries to solve the overload on its own by making the subject seek things out that can help. Such as seeking combat, physical intimacy, and so on!

The best and most common forms of treatment is physical combat and working out, as those are much more physical! It can burn their magic produce much more rapidly, restore its balance, and clear emotional spikes. Though the cons is there are risk of escalation, and in terms of physical combat, can increase LV further if done wrong. Suppressions is another, though like i mentioned before, are really only safe for those with 20 LV and up, it doesn't remove LV, it just compacts in it a way that's natural, and if done with someone lower than 20? it can fail, and can make their magic react that causes it to explode out, and can ultimately damage their soul or kill them outright.

Rainy days with Regulus are some of James’ favorite days. They make hot chocolate, put on a random movie, curl up on the couch together and forget the rest of the world exists.

Rainy days are normally James’ favorite, except today he’s in a fight with Regulus. It’s not a big fight, it’s just that Regulus is mad at James because he won’t apologize, and James is mad at Regulus because he can’t admit that’s he wrong. Regulus knows he’s wrong and James knows he should apologize, but they’re both too stubborn and now it’s just a point of pride.

So now it’s raining, and James is sitting on the couch alone trying to find a random movie to watch. He hears Regulus walk into the living room and he turns to look at him. Regulus doesn’t move any further into the room and he doesn’t say anything, he just narrows his eyes at James.

After about a minute of staring at each other Regulus seems to make a decision and shuffles across the room. He grabs a blanket, curls up on the couch resting his head on James’ lap and opens his book without saying a word.

After a moment, James decides to break the silence.

“Regulus? Are we–?” He starts cautiously.  

“I’m still mad at you, but I missed you, so play with my hair and let me read my book.” Regulus snaps but there’s very little heat behind it.

“Yes, love.” James says with a smile. He starts running his fingers through Regulus’ hair and puts on a random movie with the volume low so Regulus can still read his book.  

Later that night, while they’re curled up together listening to the rain, James will apologize to Regulus and Regulus will admit that he was “maybe, potentially, slightly less than accurate.”
