Kevin Short, known in West Hollywood as WeHo Jesus, died at 57 last month after a brief illness.
I used to see “WeHo Jesus” walking along Fountain Avenue on my commute home from work. Sad to lose an eccentric character who made our lives a little more bright. He made me smile.
You will be sorely missed, Kevin Short, AKA #WeHoJesus. You were an iconic representation of all that is right in this world and simply made West Hollywood a better place. Rest in Peace.

@kevinleelight was a gentle, kind and comforting soul who was a friend to all. Dressed as Jesus, roaming the streets of Hollywood, he was the living embodiment of "What if God was one of us". I'll always treasure our moments together. When my mom first visited LA, he saved her from getting hit by a car, and years later, when I was experimenting with stand up comedy, I had incorporated that story into my set, and he randomly showed up! I had met him back when we first moved here, and since then for years we'd always bump into him, and he'd always have time to hang out. He was featured in so many cameos in so many music videos, and he wanted to share the spotlight with others. We love you so much, Kevin. Rest In Peace to our dear friend. Aw man. Hollywood Jesus died. He was a really cool dude. It’s a pretty bold move, to walk around, for years, dressed as Jesus Christ. Pretty hard to pull that off and not look like a real jerk. But Kevin had such a calming, benevolent presence, that you felt... maybe somewhere in the back of your head a little, you wondered if it could really be him.
