👀 Is my muse the type to sleep around? 👎 Would my muse ever cheat on their partner? for edge (i'm pretty sure the latter's a definite no but i can't resist potentially spicy topics)

It's actually funny you ask, because I'd been challenging myself not too long ago to see if I could write a story where Edge cheats on his partner and somehow make it make sense and be in character withOUT just using the crutch of like, "unhappy arranged marriage" or something.  Why?  I genuinely have no idea lmao, it was probably inspired by a tumblr post or smth haha

But I'll come back to that to answer these in order.  Just in general, for sleeping around, that is a hard no.  He’s pretty demi-ace, with mostly low libido, and given the climate of his underground and standings in the guard, it couldn't have been less worth the risk of putting himself in a compromising position for something he didn't even really want.

  That being said, even in a healthier atmosphere, like post surfacing or in an au where they were never underground, he actually aligns pretty closely with Rus in that...the concept of romance and sex appeals to him, but when faced with opportunities, it mostly just feels...overwhelming.

  He’s gotta form a connection with someone and really trust them before he'd even be willing to try, and even up *til that point, he wouldn't really experience the desire himself until he'd had positive experiences of that nature!

  Or at least in any healthy way.  I've explored scenarios where he’s slept around in an effort to feel needed as the result of something in his life changing drastically enough to make him feel, uh, obsolete basically?  But in those circumstances it's more a physical act like exercise than it is something he actually enjoys and does just because he wants to😔

  But back to the cheating thing.  Of course under most circumstances you're absolutely right, and he 100% would never intentionally cheat on his partner.

  I say intentionally because, unfortunately, he is also the type of person who would stay in a relationship that didn't suit entirely because he cares about his partner, knows they care about him, or simply just feels obligated to since he made the commitment of entering a relationship with them in the first place.

  He’s also a little un-self aware at times, so I think it's entirely possible he may emotionally cheat on a partner under circumstances like that, not realizing that's what he’s doing.  He’s pretty bad at recognizing and understanding romantic feelings since he’s demi-ro, too, which is coincidentally why he’d also stay with a partner regardless of if he actually loved them romantically.  He probably thinks he does.

  However!  He'd never act on it.  If he did eventually realize, he'd either cut off contact from that other person or bring it up with his partner.  Since monsters are more chill in general about all that stuff, poly relationships are a lot more common, but if his partner wasn't a fan of the idea, then it'd circle back around to option one (regardless of if he'd be happier with the other person).

  But in general, he’s a fiercely loyal person, and there'd have to be any number of odd circumstances to push him to cheat on a partner in a traditional sense.

hello! i came across long exposure last night and started reading it on a whim and proceeded to bingeread all of it over the course of about 3 hours 😅 i loved how much love and care you put into this and how you went ham on how messy and imperfect people can be. it really inspired to work on my art skills so i can hopefully someday make something that cool, and just in general it lifts my spirits seeing well-told queer stories like that. thanks for making good stuff, hope you have a great day!

an interesting thing about the sf+hsf boys i noticed is, with their emotional rifts it's papyrus who realizes there's a problem that needs to be fixed even if he doesn't know exactly what to do. like rus wanted to do a trial separation bc the current situation was literally killing mal, and nemo is the one to want to apologize to pitch and patch things up after their fight even though pitch also said some really nasty hurtful things

Yeah, that’s definitely because Rus and Nemo are both significantly more emotionally intelligent than their brothers, who tend to minimize or ignore things they’re feeling/going through-- especially if there’s not a quick or obvious fix.

However...

If Rus left it up to Mal to realize he was working and stressing himself half to death and that he needed to take a step back to let Rus figure his own life out, he’d still be micromanaging and doing everything for them both and more or less killing himself in the process. Rus needs to learn a few things, but Mal is the one that really needs to change, and he wouldn’t if Rus didn’t put him in a position where he literally had to.

If Nemo left it wholly up to Pitch to try and reconcile after their fight, though... That wouldn’t really feel fair? Because yes, Pitch said some harsh and hurtful things, too, but in this case, it’s not on Pitch to make Nemo feel better. Pitch’s low blows were aimed at Nemo’s agoraphobia, which was definitely low, but Nemo’s low blows jabbed at Pitch’s blindness.

However caring and concerned a place that came from, Nemo can work through his agoraphobia--which Pitch is perfectly willing to support him in--but Pitch can’t become un-blind.

That’s a sore spot and it’s why Nemo has to apologize first before Pitch can really give any ground, because if Pitch were to apologize first it could come across as a concession (i.e., actually, you were right to suggest that I’m helpless and need protecting because I’m blind, I will now stop doing this sport that brings me enjoyment and agency).

Once Nemo can tell or at least show Pitch that he doesn’t really think that about him (blind = helpless), the apologies can start tumbling out on both sides for the hurtful things that were said and they can start moving forward together, as brothers.

In SF, Rus sees the need for things to change while Mal stubbornly remains the same, even to his own detriment. In HSF, Pitch has already changed, and it’s Nemo-- still stuck in Mal’s old way of thinking--who needs to do a little catching up.

hi i've seen a lot of people say they love the hades game but i don't know anything about it other than it involves greek mythology and has lots of hot guys, what do you like about it?

-The whole dysfunctional extended family thing with gods is great

-the very humorous “ i’m leaving the underworld forever father” only to show up back at the house 10 minutes later because you died

-You can be gay and romance characters (Or at least attempt to date them, I haven’t actually gotten this close with anyone yet) 

-addictive as Hell (pun intended) gameplay

-you can decorate your house

-YOUR DOG IS CERBERUS AND YOU CAN PET HIM

-lively dialogue, I’ve played for 36 hours and I have yet to come across a repeating line. There’s no limit to new things these characters say. 

-“god-mode” option for people who don’t want to go mad with how difficult this game is

-no spoilers but im invested in the story and these characters

-gorgeous art direction

-fantastic voice acting

-lol everyone is very pretty yes

-There’s a Danny DeVito skeleton
