@weighyourheart im doin’ the thing pfff. just so dog god is aware B]
jfc coming up w/ a prayer is hard dkfjfdkfjdk i did my best.
How long it had been since they last prayed to anyone. Not since their childhood, surely, and such prayers had gone unanswered. Perched carefully on smooth stone, feet resting in cool water, content in the almost silence of their Garden. This... this setting was good.
Apath does not have a shrine to offer up.
But they have their very own safe haven to use as one, instead.
A pocket realm that none may enter, bar themself and those they would allow. Perhaps similar to Duat in that sense, but nothing near as grand, and nothing near as special nor important. Only a Garden, and each sacred to the Arceus that made it.
“...fergive me. I don’ know how ta pray. Wha’ prayers I have offered since I was young were ta th’universe itself, no’ any deity. Bu’... I did some research... tried... tried ta figure ou’ how ta properly pray ta ya... I’ll, uhm, I’ll force m’accent ta go away fer this, so it’ll be more... formal?”
They laid back, eyes closing and letting rain drizzle over them.
“O’, jackal Anubis, mighty and beloved,
Gatekeeper fierce and Guardian unwavering,
Hear my voice, hear my praise.
Ye who guides and weighs souls,
May you guide me through my troubles,
Let every utterance of your Sacred name push me forth.
May I never waver from light of your Grace,
May my worship be as unwavering as your support of the Pillar,
May I yet sing my adoration for you, O’ beloved Lord of the Dead.”
Here, they faltered, voice obviously shy and uncertain, but still they tried.
“Your name is forever engraved in my heart, obsidian Lord,
May I never falter so that when my time is through I may meet with you,
Guide me, O’ Lord of Duat, her mightiest King.
I honor you, O’ fearless jackal Anubis,
Blessed be your Sacred name.”
Silence for a moment, face burning red--they didn’t know if they were doing well enough for him. For a deity such as Anubis, if it was good enough. But that felt right, as a personal prayer, and their first.
Apath’s hands came up to cover their face, taking in a shaky breath.
...and smiling.
They have found their god.
