I keep waking up a weird hours, like I’ll wake up in the AMs and be fully awake,,,, I miss sleeping in but I just can’t
I have the ability to mentally rotate myself to sleep.
It’s not rotating really, more like rocking side to side or like swaying in a hammock. This started by accident and I have no idea why it happened. At first it was just this weird subconscious thing my mind did as I fell asleep, so I would be lying in bed and as I got closer to drifting off, I would feel my body begin to rotate slowly, drifting like a leaf in a gentle breeze. This was all in my mind, of course, I wasn’t actually moving at all.
Eventually I managed to control it, starting off by making tiny rocking motions until my brain made it feel like I was fully swaying side to side. Then I just focused really hard every night to make myself sway back and forth like I was in a hammock. I’ve been doing for a few nights in a row and it’s put me to sleep like a baby, I don’t remember anything that’s ever made me fall asleep so fast and effectively.
I’m just wondering if this has a name and if anyone else does this? I asked my twin and they said they had never experienced this.
i don’t remember it but apparently i woke up at 2:30 this morning to make this important note on my phone
Does this happen to anyone else?
Sometimes I will wake up from a dream that feels pretty real and have to complete a task. (Ex: One time I woke up and felt like I had to remove a poster from my wall. Another time I thought bricks were falling out of my closet so I physically got up to stop them.)Usually, the task is outlandish so I say to myself I can just do it in the morning and go back to sleep. But it’s just a really weird thing that happens to me sometimes.
“Sorry for the confusing conversation we had when you thought I was awake…”
I got a Fitbit to track my sleep to see if it correlated with my migraines or depression. Not a lot of useful information came out of that. But I did learn I have a fairly chaotic sleep patterns. I don’t mean when I go to sleep or wake up. I keep that fairly regular.
You’re supposed to go in steps during the night between light, deep, and REM sleep with light sleep always between deep and REM. I do not follow this predictable up and down pattern. Occasionally, it’ll be in the mix, but there’s a lot of random jumping between stages. My ratios of how much time I spend in each stage change a lot from night to night too. Sometimes twice as much deep sleep as the app says is typical, sometimes barely any at all.
I at first assumed it was just that a Fitbit isn’t a very scientific device. It can only sense so much. But I talked to my sister and she showed me her graphs and they look like a textbook example of sleep stage progression.
I don’t really know what this means or if there’s anything I need to be doing about it. I’m already pretty careful about sleep hygiene. I don’t know if this relates to or affects my migraines or the exhaustion I feel with them.
I just open the app every day, look at the sleep tab, go “yep, still weird” and close it again.
You know my mom just told me the weirdest thing i did i was sleeping where my feet was meant to be and was saying the word mom continuously
Last night I somehow twisted my arm and stuffed my hand under my head IN MY SLEEP in such a way that my elbow was sticking straight up next to my head and when I untucked my hand, the whole arm spun around as it unwound and every joint (shoulder, elbow, and wrist) was on fire like I'd been tied up in some kind of torture stress position
When I was more awake I tried to figure out how I could have twisted my arm and had my hand under my head like it was and I STILL DON'T KNOW
