Had a kind of an end of the world nightmare.
It started with me in elementary school with a friend of mine (who in reality I hadn’t seen since elementary school but in the dream we were best friends and she didn’t speak English for some reason) and I hadn’t been to school for a bit and was getting some stuff from the teacher when suddenly the school was being evacuated and everyone was told to hurry home to be with their families.
My friend and I (both children in the dream) travelled for ages until we found my house to hide in, but along the way family groups were all literally looking to the heavens for god and the rapture.
Then everyone was forced into big shopping centers, where everything was an amazing deal. Kind of a ‘too good to pass on’. And even though they knew it was the end of the world, these boots were cute or they needed some new winter wear.
After a little bit, everyone started buying stuff like it was Black Friday. But after few minutes the store will change to a different store. Lights would change and the items in your hand would disappear.
There were three or four of these changes, until you saw a moral path between all of them. Like there were little clues saying how each store is bad, consumerism is bad or government is bad, until they began having people that would start singing and dancing and saying how the previous store made you a bad person, but at the same time suggesting you buy the next new stuff.
Until the entire floor disappeared, and we were left in a grassy field on the outside a destroyed city but e has been given a second chance, only to find it was another store kind of in disguise, that was actually selling l the next cool gadget for $10,000 that people would love…
And then before the world could change again, it totally turned into a TV show about “what did you think about today’s mass hallucination called ‘Discovery’ “ and the last part before I woke up was Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear was saying how lame it was that a detail he had seen in one of the shifts of reality was someone driving from San Francisco to New York at the beginning because it would take more gas than they we’re implying.
Then my alarm went off and I immediately started to write this out so I didn’t forget it.
The really harsh part was I remember in the dream that my mom kept going along with every single phase like it was the real truth of the universe, also telling her that her consumerist habits are correct, and near the end, when people were realizing that something was amiss, she was still buying crap and lining up and demanding more.
It is kind of sticking with me, I need to go shake it out of my head.
