I am so impressed by your naming system it just makes so much sense and I wish canon actually had something like that cause it is so fun to theorize on what names apprentices might get, and I personally think it helps me engage more with the books too because it motivates me to pay more attention and remember smaller details. It’s just something little in terms of changes you have made that I think is the most impactful personally, because it fits so well with everything. Kudos to you and Lynx yalls work is amazing
I'm glad you like it! We can't claim credit for how it works; our type of system is known as traditionalism, which others fine-tuned and perfected before we came into the picture. We've added and subtracted prefixes and suffixes for our particular version, but the concept is taken from our forebloggers.
"Finally, something I was alive for!" Hawaii said, "Buckle in, kids, this is a ride!"
"I was scared for 'Union's', (as we called him for the sake of simplicity) safety, really. But any time I tried to ask around as to what was happening, I was told I didn't need to worry, it was a United States problem."
"So, being the stupid person I was, I went to the mainland myself for the first time. I saw so many things, but strangely enough, I didn't meet a single state, or the Confederacy. I saw slavery, I saw the land disputes, I saw how people treated me. I finally learned what a 'colored' person was, and why they were considered lesser."
"When I came back from my trip, some of my King's advisors said they wanted to ally with the Confederacy. And that it would be our best interests if we recognized them as an independent country." She scoffed. "One of them even said it was 'proof of the American Experiment failing'."
"That was the first time I put my foot down like that with the advisors, and I learned how to say no. I argued we had to ally with Union at all costs, and that I couldn't turn my back on him. Not now, not ever."
"We waited for Britain and France's official answer. To my shock, they both declared neutrality."
"So, I had to follow suit, and King Kamehameha IV outlawed any involvement, but many Hawaiians disobeyed the direct orders, and I tried to help create a Hawaiian Regiment for President Lincoln's service." She shook her head. "It didn't work. But many Hawaiians joined the military, and fought for both sides."
"People in my country loved the union, because we had ties with the New England states. We also strongly approved of Mr. Lincoln's efforts."
"Also, sugar BOOMED during this time..." She sighed, and rubbed her forehead. "We made so much money off of America's suffering..."
Your worldbuilding fills me with such joy every time I see it. There's so much care in it, and it really captures what it felt like reading those books as a child, except good lol. I just love it so much and it's everything I didn't know I needed and more
Thank you, man! The worldbuilding is probably my favorite aspect of this series, honestly. It's lovely to know it's being loved by others like how I love it.
My cat Bonnie would probably be named Magpiewing; shes very smart (SHE CAN OPEN DOORS) but also very very dumb at the same time. So maybe Magpieflight would be more accurate? Could probably be a -belly as well.
Photos included :D
Next is Pebbles, she would be Sycamorestorm :) shes larger than all the other cats around. She also doeant really like other cats except Oh and doesnt seem to care about Bonnie really. She could be a -tail or -claw maybe? But with how often she gets into hissy fights with strays, I think -storm fits better
The black tabby is Oh, (yes thats his name. He was dumped by his old owners we're pretty sure) he would be Wrencloud, simply because he is the absolute sweetest little thing in the whole world and very calm. [Outside because we arent allowed to have more than 3 pets in our apartments, but we've more or less adopted the two. And they dont like staying inside fully anyways lol]
Angles a bit funky so its not super obvious how much bigger she is than Oh, but hes a small guy.
And as a happy note here are my dogs and a silly photo of Bonnie.
[The puppy is Tilly and the old dog is Lady!]
Have a good day, I hope animals brighten your mood :D
