I have an aroace character in my object show (Book) and seeing how fandoms treat aroace characters makes me want him to randomly look at the camera and say “I’m disgusted by the idea of being in a romantic or sexual relationship with someone” in the middle of an chapter, and then the chapter continues like normal after that. I also want to put an aroace sticker on him, it was in one of his earlier designs but I kept forgetting it so I just took it off. But even if I did both of those people would try to find some subtext that makes him not as disgusted by non-platonic relationships and just make him ‘broken’ like they view all aroace people
He doesn’t want a relationship. He feels no attraction. He likes seeing other people in a relationship because it makes them happy and he likes to play matchmaker, but it’s not for him. I don’t want to see him shipped with other characters, also partially because he’s a minor and the cast is mainly adults with like 3 minors total outside of flashbacks.
Yes, aroace people can be in relationships, aroace is a spectrum and isn’t just “I feel 0 attraction whatsoever and want to vomit at any relationship I see”, but not all aroace people want to be in relationships or feel attraction. He doesn’t want to be in a relationship. Also this:
I know at the end of the day he’s fictional, but I have this representation for a reason. Stop erasing representation for aroace people that don’t want a relationship at all
