What happens with aroace coded characters in fandoms that really annoys me:

Frodo Baggins: never involved in a relationship, loves his friends — fandom: he’s so in love with Sam, he even lets him and his family live with him

Bilbo Baggins: never married, dedicates his life to writing, adopts Frodo and loves him like a son — fandom: I ship him with Thorin so much

Sherlock Holmes: dedicated his life to his work, very loyal to his friends, never married or had a real relationship — fandom: he’s in love with Irene! He’s in love with John!

Aziraphale & Crowley: canonically ace according to the book, poster characters for a qpr — fandom: why don’t they just f**k? Why don’t they just k**s? This is queerbaiting!

There are probably more examples because it’s definitely a pattern.

Pride Month Ocs Collection: 2026

Sadly, this is the last day of Pride Month. I will miss the flag GIF on the like button, and I will miss all the Pride posts too. But even though Pride Month is ending, I want all of you to know that you are not alone, and you are valid.

Fortunately, July is Disability Pride Month. Let's celebrate this one as well and make sure everyone gets the love and support they deserve. It's a tough world to live in, but supporting each other and fighting for our rights and the rights of others makes it better even if it's little by little.

Guys. I'm genuinely sad for the shippers.

I am more happy for me, though. It's about Taylor's comments regarding Mel looking for connection and friendship, rather than romantic relationship. This is what I've always wanted for Mel.

And please, understand, that non-romantic relationship isn't less-than. It isn't making her childish or anything like that. That kind of platonic connection with other people is something I, personally, value the most of all relationships. I want to see a character who's searching for exactly that. I want to cheer her on and I want to feel seen and understood when she finds it. Because I believe she will find it.

I also expect kingdon shippers to take all they can from season 2 and turn it into a myriad of incredible fanfics celebrating their ship. This is what fanfiction and fandom is for. Have fun y'all! <3

“Aroace people can still have romantic and have sexual relationships, so it’s okay to ship them!” Only works if that character has been implied to shown to be on that part of the spectrum.

Plus, this can also create a double standard of shipping. For an example for most (sane) people don’t tend to ship lesbians with men or gays with women, because it blatantly erases that representation. But whenever it’s a aroace character that has never shown any interest In romantic or sexual attraction at all is shipped with another character is seen (by surprising a lot of people) to be okay. Which is annoying.

Aroace people barely have any representation in media because of how lesser known the label is. Especially the ones who are completely disinterested in having any relationships unless they are platonic. So it be like adding salt in the wound by using the “aroace is a spectrum” just to ship a aroace character.

But overall when people do ship a gay man with a woman, or vice versa, it’s usually for the sake of shipping. So in my opinion, if you are going to ship a aroace character (who, once again, is completely disinterested any type of romantic or sexual relationship) with another character, just say because you want to ship them instead of grasping at straws and using flimsy excuses.

I love Bob and Yelena's realtionship as much as the next guy but could we please remeber that Yelena is canonicly AroAce? They are at least as cool platonicly as romantic! They could absolutly be Siblings or just very close friends!
