There’s very little recollection to the events of Sokovia. He remembers, last, waking up, after a brief unconscious spell, wanting to run and find Wanda. She wasn’t there - he knew that much. Which was enough for him to worry, to be frantic, even if his injuries were to vast for him to get up. Even his enhancements were halted by the pain, the injuries, and he immediately lost consciousness again, not at all reassured that she would be found, the words he heard before his mind fell to darkness once again.
The next time he wakes up, his mind is racing, his heart following suit almost immediately. None of that is abnormal - his enhancements didn’t just increase his physical speed; his heart rate is always a bit faster than normal, his mind always moving at a million miles per minute it seems. He’s gotten better at dealing with it, and Wanda’s presence is always a balm to the rapidity, which is why he knows she’s there.
The second he wakes, his mind starts going, but it slows, through no conscious effort of his own. Before he even opens his eyes, he knows that Wanda must be nearby. Which means she survived the nightmare in Sokovia, that they won against the army they had helped spur on. Ultron had the information and the temptation to turn them against the Avengers easily. The switch they’d pulled was something he didn’t regret: seeing what SHIELD was supposed to be, not so bad, he was glad to have helped. He had no reservations now, about helping the Avengers, protecting Sokovia (and the world), and protecting Hawkeye from a barrage of bullets with his own body, and speed, was something he never expected. The quip, before he falls, losing consciousness, would be funny, if he weren’t suffering from life threatening injuries.
And he never expected to survive. He had done that as a sacrifice play. Waking up in the hospital, a hospital, who knows where, is a shock to his system, and his increased speed causes him to jerk away easier, even when injured. His breathing is quick, and his heartrate speeds up for a moment, before he looks over and sees her. “You are okay.” It’s a relief - he would have died if she had, been completely heartbroken if Wanda had not made it out of Sokovia safely. She was stronger than he was. She could survive without him. He could not live without her. “You are, right?”
