At first she couldn't believe who she was seeing. Which was stupid - These sorts of events attract all types. Especially bleeding heart types. Especially people who she'd met at similar places. After all, this was a fundraiser. Looking down at her drink, she grimaced and downed the rest of it in a few gulps. If she didn't approach, then Riley would approach her and it would be even more awkward.

It'd be small talk. She could do that. A simple hi. An easy 'it's nice to see you here' or 'you look nice'. And she could absolutely ignore the pull to do much more than that.

Her bright smile was almost too forced - too polite - and she couldn't keep the strain out of her voice. "Look what the cat dragged in." Fuck.
