Truly hate it when people say " i have faith in you ? " " i know you can do it!" Etc.
Like on specific tasks sometimes it is helpful but usually it. Just feels like.......phony. Like first of all, either I know I can do it or I don't have a choice I have to do it.
Second of all: you are minimizing my feelings and the current struggle I am having with my symptoms. Even if i do get the task "done" it doesn't take away thr symptoms. It wasn't because you "believed in or had faith me". It's because I worked my ass off to overcome and get it done.
Perhaps I am being too rough on my friends who are being supportive. But i would much rather hear things like.
1) wow it sounds like you are really struggling with this. Is there anyway we can break it down to make it more managable.
2) it sounds like you are overwhelmed. Do you think you are taking on too much at one time ?
3) is there a way to help you organize your thoughts ?
4) is there anything I can help you with ?
5) that really sucks. I'm sorry that this is so stressful for you.
All of these things validate my feelings without pity or trying to tell me that things will get better.
What do you wish some of your friends said to you / what were some helpful things they said ?
What were some not helpful things .?
