I’ve never been a big fan of openwork, but it seems that was mostly because I wasn’t looking at the right patterns. And then I chanced upon Anna Victoria’s page on Ravelry and boom! I was in love.

The Mermaid’s Lair lace shawl looks just amazing…yet the paten seems surprisingly doable! She has instructions for beads but I’ll stick with just yarn for now.

Isn’t that just lovely?

I was lucky to find an amazing fade (7 skeins! 50 gr each! How awesome is that?) at the Stitch Noir booth at the Almonte Fibre Fest. Although many colourways called to me (and there were soooo many) I chose this because it’s for a friend. Also Mermaid, so blue, right? The best part is that there will likely be enough leftover yarn for a fade for me :)

What kind of girl would Kylo and Hux fall for?

Kylo is unpredictable. He’d probably like someone intriguing who always keeps him guessing, or who he can try to provoke for a reaction (like Hux). He likes messing up order and testing the limits, so someone he can do that to, or do that with. He can’t stand boring. Anyone with layers to them that he has to work to ‘solve’ will probably keep his attention.

Hux would fall for someone hardworking and straightlaced, with a sense of humour he likes (which is no doubt subtle and incredibly dry). He’d like someone who appreciated and respected his authority, while pushing him a little. He’s not the kind to think fraternising at work is ever a good idea, and he’s singularly focused on his goals, but, well, if there’s someone smart and pretty he can glance over to and share a knowing smirk with, that’s not going to be the end of the universe. (He might also enjoy a similar person to Kylo - someone disruptive who pushes his buttons in a way no one else does, but he’ll never admit that).
