As the week of Beltane celebrations come to a close across Wales and beyond, I want to share a short devotional passage to the deities and spirits of nature that bless us during this season.

The evening sky turns from dark to light,

and the willow-wielding Summer wins his fight.

I praise Beli, the light bringer, for a stalling western sun.

I praise Braint for her fire, and the darkness overcome.

May we be blessed by their warmth.

From the sun, to the hearth.

I’m enjoying drawing all these Llamhigyn y dŵr so much 😅 In Welsh folklore they are often described as evil creatures, but part of me things ‘maybe they’re just very, not smart?’ Maybe they just see movement and think ‘yes! I took a trip to good ol’ London Town recently and finally managed to purchase a copy of Welsh Witchcraft by Mhara Starling! I’ve been wanting to get it since pre-release but waited to get it from a physical bookshop. I’m already breezing through it. I’ve been watching a lot of Mhara’s videos on YouTube and TikTok so I was very excited for this; it’s not often I see books that relate so closely to my practice and research📚 I also bought a wand from the House of Spells, a wonderful Harry Potter/Game of Thrones themed shop in Leicester Square. I wanted a more classic style so opted for Madame Pomfrey, a healing witch of Welsh descent which feels very fitting! I will definitely be making some posts on a review of the book as a whole and comments on the exercises and knowledge I find within. Bendithion i bawb!🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
