It didn't bother Worth too much when Lark didn't immediately text back this time. He'd gone through the other man being upset before, and knew by now that silence didn't necessarily mean divorce papers were being drawn up. Plus, that was a pretty long ass text he'd sent and he just assumed that Lark was trying to figure out what to say. Or how to say it. Or something.
Either way, he was pretty wiped out emotionally just from the sending of it, and this time the lack of a response felt like a little break from having to think about it. He spent that time making himself a grilled cheese, grabbing a beer, and being a couch potato in front of the TV. Trying to forget.
So when he opened his front door and saw Lark actually standing there, it took his brain a good couple moments to catch up. Until then he just blinked in confusion at him with a dazed look on his face.
"Birdie? Uh-- Hey!" He managed a smile as his heart took over for his overloaded mind, and reminded him that he liked the sight of his boyfriend no matter what.
He wasn't exactly ready for a "visit" though. The fur around his collar hadn't been brushed since yesterday and stuck out in weird directions, his coat was off since it was a little too warm, and the shirt that he did have on had a ketchup stain on it. He probably smelled a little too strongly of alcohol.
He glanced down at the grocery bag in Lark's hands. "...Ya bring me somethin'?" Maybe it was informational brochures on pool safety.
