“We have done a terrible job at addressing the main concerns noted 25 years ago, with every single issue getting worse except the ozone layer. ... In the past 25 years population has grown by 2.1 billion from 5.5 billion to 7.6 billion. In just 25 years the global population growth grew by 26%. Meanwhile, in the same time period, the populations of every other mammal, reptile, amphibian, and fish have declined by almost 30 percent. ... This growth indirectly led to 300 million acres of forest to be cut down and the percentage of fresh water available per person has decreased by 26 percent. The number of wild-caught fish has declined dramatically in recent decades coinciding with an increase in ocean dead zones. Since the initial letter global average temperatures have risen by over half a degree Celsius and CO2 emissions have increased by 62 percent.”
