Masterson - Western Font Family by Arterfak Project
WK 09 – Visual Identity Branding Vectors Logos in Adobe Illustrator and original hand drawn sketches of logos, plus font. Remember those old Westerns where cowboys branded cattle? They did it to mark ownership. These three logos I designed displayed the same thing (minus the pain of a red hot branding iron). The following logo designs is distinctive, appropriate, practical, graphic and simple in form, and it conveys the intended message (related to the theme of the brand... the wild wild west). When creating a logo, I follow a process that ensure the final design meets the need of the criteria. Below, I listed the typical process that professional logo designers follow: Design brief - create a mind-map and moodboard of what the theme is. Research - Conduct research on the industry itself, its history and cometitors, proble-solve first, design later. Reference - Conduct research on logo deisgns that have been successful and on current style and trends that may relate to the design brief. Sketching and conceptualising - Develop the logo design concepts around the brief and the research gathered. Reflection I'm still unsure how the final is going to look like, as I feel my head is spinning with different ideas to make it look better. However if I follow these five easy steps, I feel more confident when designing my product. The five principles below to enure that my dsign meets all of these criteria: Simple Memorable Timeless Versatile Appropriate I still haven't figure out what I should name my product yet, atleast I have an idea of what my font will look like. Maybe I'm being too picky of the name? This font may change if it fits with the design of the logo.
