The @laislanetwork communicator team @edkashi @t_laffay @aubreyroemer are honored to be participating in @artprize w/ #richardappgallery #nomadgallery #westsideproject as recipients of ArtPrize’s Artist Seed Grant this fall. Thank you for your generous support #freyfoundation 🙏🏻🙏🏼🙏🏽 You can read about our project below or see it here: http://www.artprize.org/lists/list/60442 -//- An ode to workers in agricultural fields around the world who have been affected by Chronic Kidney Disease of unknown origin (CKDu). ‘Fragments from Forgotten Fields’ is an installation created by a collection of photographs depicting those affected by CKDu printed onto used sugarcane sacks and rice bags, incorporating audio and sound from the regions where CKDu is prevalent. The work will be installed as a small sanctuary-sized room with walls created by clotheslines, which are covered in fragmented portraits of those diagnosed with CKDu and their affected family and communities. This collection of portraiture was captured by photojournalists Ed Kashi and Tom Laffay from their documentation of CKDu in the agro-industrial fields around the world. Artist Aubrey Roemer continues memorializing the overlooked and forgotten agricultural workers in collaboration with photographers Ed Kashi and Tom Laffay, who are communicators for NGO La Isla Network (LIN). LIN advocates for human rights and furthers research for workers suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease of unknown origins (CKDu) around the world. . . . . . @richardapp @agent_glaser @ilanaweiss #laislanetwork #lincommunicators #ckdu #chronickidneydisease #socialjustice #humanrights #advocacy #agriculture #artprize #artprize2018 #grandrapids #journalism (at Art Prize~ Downtown) https://www.instagram.com/p/BnKMvDGnnYj/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=d2n5nyis8jo8
