Once more with all the pictures in one post. Friday my 8' Pflueger micro spin graphite rod caught the wind while it sitting in my boat while towing to the lake. The wind flipped up the rod and snapped it a few inches into the second section of the pole. I decided to try and fix it with a technique that uses a dowel inside and a braided line wrap with epoxy on the outside, using the broken ends as the tool to align the pieces, and keeping the original length. I found a small dowel and sanded it to fit, locking it in place with my West System epoxy. Then I wrapped the outside with 20 lb test Berkley FireLine that I had on hand and coated it with two coats of the epoxy. I believe there's something wrong with the here. Either expired, or the pumps are dispensing too much hardener. This was only out for 5-10 minutes before it was rock hard and extremely hot. After two years of putting it off, I finally took out the second mortgage needed, to purchase a setup of West System epoxy. Buying from multiple vendors on Amazon, saved a slight amount of money, so the rest will be trickling in throughout the week. The pumps here, were the first to arrive. I bought a gallon of resin, and one quart each, of the slow, and fast hardener, as well as a can of low density filler. #woodworking #westsystem #westsystemepoxy
