Discovery’s bridge helm before and after I restored it! This involved an insane number of hours. First I used a heat gun and scraper, then did a bunch of hand sanding, to remove what was left of the old varnish. It was tough because its all curves! Then three layers of linseed oil, then a layer of varnish, light sand, and another layer of varnish. Also had to fill in a rotten area with some wood filler and bits of reclaimed wood, and try and stain it to match. Very happy with the results!
