OK - SO MUCH SQUEE!!!!! 1. Adam Savage geeking about the set models 2. The DETAIL, Things I have never noticed - like the fact that the terrace has a BBQ (complete with ubiquitous gas bottle) and picnic table (so we now have canon that the Tracy's like to BBQ) 3. You can clearly see that the pool is actually Olympic pool size, and there are two lanes of the pool roped off (Gordon's area I would imagine) 4. The main hangar is called the "refuelling bay" and yes - TB1, TB3 and TB4 live there. 5. IT IS ALL MAGNIFICENT

how come Shadowhunters is praised for being different to the books? the plot line is almost completely different after the first four episodes or so, and the characters are virtually the only things parallel with the books, and the casting is pretty shit in some places. yet people talk about how good it is, for many people it is their favourite show. people are perfectly willing to suspend their knowledge that it isn’t like the books, so they can enjoy a well-made, exciting show. i’m not shitting on Shadowhunters here, it’s probably my favorite book series and the show is great. just the fandom seems to dole out high praise for something that doesn’t seem to deserve it.

but you know what else is different from the books? Mortal Engines.

one of my favorite book series hands down. and the movie was incredible. filmed in aotearoa by our very own peter jackson and the wētā workshops. the graphics? the landscape? the most stunning i’ve seen. many parts of the film were almost exactly how i imagined them when reading, like Anna Fang and the moving cities, and the Sheild Wall and the Jenny.

so why does it get hated so much? i know many things are different. i know the storyline is different, even though it’s not as different as the highly-praised Shadowhunters, but honestly, i think some of the changes made it better. obviously i wish it was exactly like the series but how come, with Shadowhunters, people are willing to ‘treat it as if it were just an entirely different story’, but you can’t just shut up and enjoy the incredible piece of filmmaking that is Mortal Engines?

shows like Umbrella Academy are different too. look at the casting. reginald, pogo, grace, and five are virtually the only characters that look like their book counterparts. but people are willing to forget about that to enjoy the show. don’t get me wrong, the Umbrella Academy is one of my absolute favourite shows, and i don’t mind that it’s not exactly the same as the comics, but omg guys just stop shitting on Mortal Engines and enjoy the dang film. you try fitting 8 books into one 2 hour film and keep everything the same, then you can be mean about it. if you don’t like it then shut the hell up and go watch something else.

i’m sorry for ranting but dammit you guys this pisses me off
