Eclipse the Darkling and Ducks.

If you are a fan of Eclipse the Darkling here on tumblr and happen to see anything about him loving ducks or having a duck plushie named Lily, that came mostly from me.

Here's the story.

So in 2021, I started writing a series called Whipple Family (mis)adventures where Wade Whipple adopts Silver and Shadow. I started writing it between the first and second movies. It was also done way before the Knuckles Series, so Wade is very different from the SCU, but he's more of a character and not an idiot punching bag.

Part of the way in, I decided to introduce Eclipse into my verse.

My friend Doomfox, one day made an au of what if Wade got saved from death by being turned into a Darkling (Or just a Dark, since he's an adult). The two of us spent a whole summer writing ficlets back and forth to each other about this concept that eventually got put into a series and posted on AO3.

In my series, Silver has a beloved isopod plushie named Plush. This was not my original idea that he had an isopod (I did ask permission to use it!) and Doom suggested that Eclipse steals a little plushie of his own.

On a lark, I decided that it was a duck.

I am not an artist, I am a writer, so I asked a different friend, about a sketch of Eclipse and his new plushie. They decided the plushie's name was Lily.

I later thought he would think his plushie needed a cooler name and her full name because Lily, Crusher of Skulls.

From there, it kinda just snowballed. I had Eclipse visiting the ducks in my fics, several other people have written/ drawn Eclipse having a plushie named Lily. I do not mind at all, people are free to use that if they wish!

Personally, I think it's great that Eclipse is getting a lot of attention and I'm glad to see more content of this silly boy.

I was thinking about your post of Shadow saying what the fish and it made me think of Prime Shadow saying it.

The scu boys either think it's hilarious or that it's sad that his dad doesn't let him swear either 😔

XD I love this so much. Sonic W is dying of laughter every time Shadow says it and Little Silver feels bad that he's not allowed to swear.

Silver W: I'm sorry your dad won't let you swear. Ours won't either. We have to pay the swear jar.

Shadow: . . . What??

*Prime Shadow also starts dying of laughter in the background at the thought of Black Doom making Shadow pay the swear jar.
