Dayton is over and I’ve dragged myself out of the post finals blues and right into a gnarly stomach virus.
Oh band. Why you do this.
I had so much fun being on the “Other Side” of Dayton and getting to peak behind the curtain at staff life. Every year I go seems to be bigger and crazier than the year before.
This was extremely obvious when I stopped by the @Lotriot booth before PIW started blowing up. I’ve never seen a booth so crazy, and such a dedicated team working to connect to the young musicians buying their gear. I got to spend the most time with Andrew who asked everyone’s name and how they were doing, despite being almost dead on his feet. Seriously you guys, this kid was propped up by a chair. I literally think that was the only thing keeping him going. It was impressive.
I also got to meet a lot of really great kids, and reconnect wtih @onyeplaysdrums. @crispydiddletap bought one of the amazing jackets for sale, and I think he may have gotten the last one in that size. Despite the warm weather, everything was selling out so fast. It was really cool to meet him and the others and hear how everyone’s shows went. I tried to take as many pictures as I could but I was so busy just talking to everyone and trying to meet as many people as possible. I tried to tag everyone but if we met and I didn’t get a change to give you a shout out let me know!
I’m happy to be involved with such an amazing activity that brings so many wonderful people together. The community that is born and the relationships built are a huge reason as to why I am so enthusiastically involved in the many aspects of WGI. I can’t wait to see what happens next season!
In the mean time, summer is coming...
****IMPORTANT****
before my opinions about shows gets out of hand, I want it made clear. I’m very proud of all of my friends who marched this past season, and those who were part of any ensemble. It takes a lot to spend a season working on something, and just because I don’t like a show doesn’t mean it wasn’t performed well.
Please don’t take it personally that I did not care for a show design.
END DISCLAIMER.

this is my quad tech sam. he may have crooked shades and small ears, but he compensates for it with his undeniable charm and okay beats.
