You know, one thing I love about Qifrey and Olly's dynamic is that they're both wrapped around each other's fingers. And given evidence from how they act, you would assume that Olly is the one more wrapped around Qifrey's finger, but its actually very likely the opposite. Like, even if Olly doesn't remember, he sacrificed a *lot* for Qifrey (repeatedly losing his memories) and he also was the one who gave Qifrey a way to Keep Living despite his curse. Honestly I'd say that comparatively Qifrey (due to his guilt for hurting Olly so many times and his awe at how he saved him at such a young age) would do Literally Anything for Olly if it really came down to it (short of harming their girls of course). Olly probably has no clue that Qifrey would 10000% be down to hide a body if Olly requested it lmao

the day that the majority of people realize that Olly is just as much of a freak for Qifrey as Qifrey is for him-- IF NOT MORE-- is the day i CELEBRATE ↓ because it's true! Olly can have anyone he wants, whenever he wants them, he's a child prodigy and The literal Torch of Ghodrey. By comparison, Qifrey has no titles nor status. He's the first apprentice of Beldaruit, sure, but social outcast otherwise

or a would-be outcast, if not for Olly's enraptured devotion and Beldaruit's parental care

"Wherever you want, I'll take you there" ↓ Mind you, prior to this, their only interactions have been full of bickering and Qifrey trying to push him away. Olly is the one that sought him out, Olly is the one made sure he ate on their second interaction. And not even in the typical "Popular 'adopts' Nerd" trope, Olruggio is the one bending and changing to meet Qifrey

Qifrey sees Olly's kindness as an innate part of his being, despite that not actually being the case. Olly is kind, and he's gentle, and a softie, but the things he does for Qifrey and the girls are not anywhere near his default treatment of strangers

"So, uh... I'm Olruggio! You can call me, um... Olruggio, I guess!" ↓ no one called him 'Olly' until Qifrey showed up, and bonded with him btw. He doesn't have a nickname to offer, but he wants to. Off the bat, he wants to give Qifrey a lot of things-- and connection is one of them

every instance he tries to tell Qifrey 'no', he immediately folds the SECOND Qifrey pushes for a yes-- because he simply cannot deny Qifrey anything ever ↑ an especially good example of this is the aftermath of the tassel swap, where Olruggio asks why he has it and Qifrey nearly bursts into tears clutching at it-- Olly immediately backs off demanding it returned, and tells him just to ask, he would've said yes

uh- in short, yeah. Olly is just as locked into this relationship as Qifrey is. and Qifrey is so loved, by Olly and by his master, and believes himself so unworthy of it [Qifrey never tells Olly that it was his idea to wipe his memories btw, and lets him believe that it's just something Qifrey came up with to stay alive and he agreed to]

y'all remember that one ch93 bit where smolly reminds qifrey of the future he dreams of and there's this tiny panel of them both as old men?

what if shirahama gave them the happy ending they both want and deserve? what if she let them live the slow and gentle cottagecore life of their dreams?? and what if they did grow old together and she reused or redrew that exact panel to make them come full circle, what then??!?

Something that really punches me in the guts in WHA Chapter 93 [Major spoilers of course]

It's the way Olruggio is all smiles while telling Qifrey to erase his memories. He seems so cheerful about it, which is such a contrast to how Qifrey is crying his heart out.

He seems like he's downplaying the gravity of what is happening so much, perhaps to not make this more difficult for Qifrey if he shows he hurts too ?

He's all cheers and smiles, until he snaps. Until he can't hold it anymore. And that's the only time he snaps in this scene:

The only time he snaps out of his smiley cover is when he wants Qifrey to grasp his future, to not give up on life. The only time he got a tear in the eye, is him yelling he doesn't want Qifrey to die.

I don't know for y'all, but to me Olruggio trying to smile through it all despite how desperate he actually feels is one of the major reason this scene is so haunting to me
