dni if you're apart of the mha fandom or aot fandom. the mha is completely disgusting / toxic and the aot fandom is just toxic in general.

You know, I really don’t like how people bash Ariel for sacrificing her voice in exchange for human legs to be with Eric when she was yearning to become a human way before she even knew of Eric’s existence and was so fascinated, I would even say borderline obsessed with the human world so much that she had an entire room dedicated to things she collected from our world. She was an inquisitive mermaid who was passionate about human culture and civilization based on everything she had seen. Eric was just a bonus that was added later in her desire to become human and what was actually the catalyst (or the final straw) in her deciding to become a human was her own father carelessly destroying her entire collection of manmade things she spent collecting for I don’t know how many years. She was offered a chance to become human (regardless of how naive the action was) and because she was rightfully upset about what happened, she went along with it. I think it’s pretty unfair that people ignore like the first 25 minutes or so of the movie and her entire scene where she was very clearly conveying the message that she wanted to be part of our world so badly (this is before she even saw Eric) just to reduce her motivations to "She did it for a man!!!! How dare she?!”. I think those people missed the entire point of her character and arc.
