A single blue rose, Alex for Eliza- Hamliza
A Single Blue Rose - “You seem like an unattainable dream”
Eliza woke up to the feeling of a hand lightly tracing over her cheeks. She opened her eyes to find Alex leaning over her, love shining in his eyes and a soft smile on his lips.
“Good morning,” she breathed out, voice a little rough from sleep.
Alex’s smile widened. He shifted his hand to cup the side of her face and ducked down to press a soft kiss to her lips. “Good morning, my angle,” he said.
“What’s the occasion?” Eliza asked. Alex was often already gone by the time she woke up, a note left on his pillow or a text waiting for her saying he had left early to get a head start on something or other.
“Does there need to be an occasion?” Alex pressed another soft kiss to her lips. “It’s a cold winter morning and your beautiful face was the first thing I saw when I woke up this morning, keeping my heart and my body warm.”
Eliza giggled. “You need coffee. You’re not awake yet, you’re too cheesy.”
“If I’m not awake, then I must be dreaming.” Another kiss. Alex brushed a piece of hair behind her ear. “God, you’re stunning. I love you so much, you know. You’re like an unattainable dream, something I would have made up for myself to get me to the next day.”
She reached up to wrap her arm around Alex’s neck and then flipped them over so she was lying on top of him. “You’re ridiculous,” she said. “But lucky for you, I think I might like ridiculous.”
Alex’s hair was like a dark halo around his head, and Eliza just took in the sight of him underneath her like this. He was hers, in all of his beauty and greatness, he was the one thing she knew she’d always be able to count on. As lucky as Alex always liked to say he must be, Eliza knew it was she who had gotten the better deal.
“I love you so much, Alexander,” she said. “You have no idea how much I look forward to seeing you every day.”
Alex smiled up at her - beautiful - and asked, “didn’t you just call me ridiculous for saying that?”
Eliza smacked at his chest, laughing. “Maybe,” she agreed. “But you inspire that sort of thing, what can I say?”
