Today was the day.
She was so many things. Excited, nervous--terrified, exhilirated. All at once. Though her heart felt like it would burst forth out of her chest with the way it was pounding, the thumping clouding her hearing--beating against her ear drums.
Today was the day, Ezio would teach her to do a leap of faith. Now, she had been looking forward to this all day. Ran through scenario after scenario on what would happen. Some good, some bad. Though she tried not to dwell on the negatives. What may or may not happen, should she fail at this.
She had to think positive. She had to.
-----
On a rooftop..things seem to feel so surreal. She had watched Ezio as he spoke, as he stood at the edge of the high ledge and gave her all the teachings he could give to her.
She listened intently, seeming to hold her breath as he spoke about what to do.
Remain as calm as possible.
Don't fall..fly.
Her eyes widened in both shock and awe, watching as he demonstrated what to do. Her heart lurched and all of her senses were on edge as she moved to follow suit.
..She stood at the ledge, looked down--saw him, having safely landed in the haystack below. Saw the distance from the ledge to the ground. Biting her lower lip, she tried so hard to remain as calm as she could.
She was hestitating. Teetering back and forth between her indecision to do this.
She had to try, she had to do this.
She was afraid, she wasn't ready.
She--
..Found herself slipping.
There was a moment when she stepped back, stumbled, the heel of her right foot giving way and sliding down on the shingles of the roof, causing her to lose balance and fall.
..She wasn't quite sure..what would happen next. All she was sure of was the sound of her heart..pounding and beating loudly in her ears as she was falling.
