We have fond memories of the original Tahitian Terrace restaurant at Disneyland, with its exciting Polynesian stage show and great food. In the early 2000s, after it became evident that Aladdin's Oasis was not turning out to be a successful replacement, we began to wonder if the Tahitian Terrace might someday make a triumphant return. Ten years ago, we began sketching our ideas for a "new Tahitian Terrace" and secretly passing them on to all our Imagineering pals "on a wingand a prayer" that somehow we could turn it into a fun job for ourselves. Obviously that wasn't to be, but it feels like now is as good a time as any to finally share a few of those ideas here. Enjoy! -K&J --------------------- Inspired by the original 1963 entrance structure to the Tiki Room, the new Tahitian Terrace entrance would be highlighted by the return of the Barker Bird AA figure & Rolly Crump's "Uti", the Goddess of Fishing, Tiki figure. At the mouth of the jungle river, next to the entrance gangway, would be a unique Jungle Cruise boat, customized to resemble one of Imagineer Harper Goff's original concept designs. This boat could be used as a restaurant waiting area, photo location, souvenir shop or outdoor vending location. Also in the river (and on shore) would be a couple of "native" catamarans with tapa cloth sails which could be used as screens or backdrops during show performances.
