Hi I really like so many of the fics that you recommend, and so was wondering if you have any good fic recs where Sherlock isn't the inexperienced/"blushing virgin" OR some kind of sex maniac who traded sex for drugs in the past. I can't seem to find any where he's somewhere in the middle! Thanks so much for any help!

Hi, and thanks a lot for your ask. It’s a bit difficult to answer because what you’re looking for isn’t exactly tagged in fics.

Actually, I wish the latter point you mentioned, the “traded sex for drugs” thing, was tagged clearly. It’s one of my biggest squicks. There are many otherwise enjoyable fics that use this trope, often only mention it in a sentence or two and don’t make a big plot-point out of it. Therefore, it’s rarely if ever tagged, and I’ve repeatedly found myself in situations in which I had to decide whether to nope out of the fic or swallow the (for me) bitter pill and read on. So ... yeah ... I’m not sure if I’m the right person to ask here. I tend to prefer to read (and write) fics in which Sherlock is inexperienced and a- or demisexual because I see him that way.

But do have a look through the many lists made by the brilliant reccers in this fandom @swissmissficrecs, @inevitably-johnlocked and @alexxphoenix42 Most of the lists I reblogged were originally compiled by them. Perhaps they or some folks reading this can help and suggest stories for you.

Are there any fics that have both John and Sherlock NOT realizing that they are in love from the beginning? Like slow burn, Sherlock figuring out that he actually can get feelings for someone, John discovering his bisexuality, and then they go to the smut. I love the smut for sure but it's so fake that they would kiss and all the sudden be all over each other with no problems, especially John. Lots of angst, case is ok, JL ending of course but lots of working it out. I don't even know if I even described it right lol, but maybe someone will know something like it?

I finally got around to watching Schitts Creek, and I love the characters Patrick and David. I could totally see how Sherlock could have been done this way, so sweet. They really lost their chance to have a ground breaking show, and now someone else has done it, and even if 5 gets here someday, it's already been done. 😢
