This is my final year of school (at least for the foreseeable future😂) before I become a full time music teacher. One of my goals with my Masters degree was to try things that I was to push the levels of what I am familiar with. Before quarantine, I was making decent progress with this goal - I was playing A LOT of chamber music, meeting faculty from different music concentrations, and taking on extracurriculars outside of my degree that (in theory) will help me as a music teacher. However, since school stopped meeting I have felt stagnant - with this goal to try new things, but also with motivation. So here we are... one year after creating this Instagram (which will continue to post as normal). My plan for What’s On My Stand as a blog is to critically think and discuss topics each week from the perspective of a flute graduate student with a bachelors in Music Education. This will rotate on a weekly basis covering a variety of topics concerning band directors, university (undergrad and graduate), theory and analysis of flute repertoire, and miscellaneous for anything that doesn’t neatly fit the 3 other categories. All the July 2020 posts are up including: •What’s On My Stand: (1) My flute setup (2) My current warmup (3) My current repertoire •To Band Directors: Flute storage year round •To University Students: Questions/what should I be doing during a pandemic? •Theory: Solo flute repertoire: Bach, Ibert, Honegger, Hindemith •Miscellaneous: Motivation when there are no clear goals https://www.instagram.com/p/CDTk0oNAHV4/?igshid=1ensmjls87cpm
