@wheelerisms asked: “ there is something you’re not telling me.”
“ It’s just -- it’s nothing personal, Nancy. ” Joyce really had no problem with the young woman spending so much time over at the Byers’ residence; she and Jonathan seemed to bond so easily, and it honestly relieved Joyce a bit. She worried about her eldest just as much as she did Will, but Nancy really seemed like such a good young lady. Joyce had stepped back to the point where she’d let them think they were being super sneaky, with her staying overnights at their home. But in this situation, it might’ve been a bit of a touchy subject. Joyce did her best to try and put it lightly. “ It’s okay that you like to stay late but . . . well, our walls are a little bit thin. ”

❝ Do you want to run away with me for a week and see what we’re really capable of and who will miss us? Think about it. We can find hidden gems and hole in the wall diners. I can take hundreds of pictures with my camera and you can listen to the radio as loud as you want. ❞

“No. NO! Absolutely not!! I refuse to let you sulk!”
❝ Shit-- I'm sorry! Ah, are you- I didn't-- I mean, obviously I didn't hit you. But-- are you okay? ❞

THE MOMENTS OF LEVITY ARE FLEETING at best and he can’t help but look away from Nancy. The night before at the motel when they were “talking” about WHAT HAPPENED between them hadn’t gone exactly well per say. And he felt a little wounded that she’d been so fickle with her emotions regarding Steve and himself included. But as his dislike of people went, Jonathan couldn’t exactly fault her-- Nancy wasn’t PERFECT. She had her flaws, just as most people did-- he, himself not being exempt from that generalization.
Jonathan sighed wistfully and shrugged his shoulder. “It’s nothing,” he lies, directly making eye contact with Nancy for the briefest of seconds before letting his gaze FALTER elsewhere.
