Wheeling Redux
I began this year with a post showing one of these images taken in Wheeling, West Virginia. I went back today and scanned several additional negatives. The views were made on Wheeling Island, which is in the middle of the Ohio River on the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia.
To my chagrin I did not take a clear picture of the Wheeling Suspension Bridge, which was the longest in the world for a couple of years in the 19th century, but it shows here in bits and pieces. In any case, I’m more than a little fond of these venerable river towns where character abounds.
Nine images by Richard Koenig; taken in the spring of 1983.
