Found the book I've been trying to find for years whose title and author I forgot, but plot and cover I remembered

And then I thought huh, that name is familiar didn't she also write -

Why Joph Montgomery is important.

Yes I realize almost nobody will know who she is, so may this list also act to persuade people to read “When we wake’ by Karen Healey.

Transgender representation

Her gender being just one aspect of who she is and nothing to do with her story line

She’s also a lesbian

Her ex girlfriend who is also gay never showed any apprehension at her being born male bodied.

She’s generally a delightful and interesting character

There’s no transphobia. So trans people can see themselves represented without being triggered.

She’s not particularly feminine and not at all stereotypical

Like so many other characters in these books she’s a complicated and interesting woman.

She’s a literal genius and a badass scientist.

She’s not over-sexualised!

Okay but if you love sifi and/or books with strong female characters, sapphic ladies of all different colours and religions, trans characters whose gender is only a small aspect of who they are, female friendships and adorable surrogate mother-daughter relationships that delve into issues like immigration and global warming then you need to read “When we wake” by Karen Healey.
