things to feel infinitely giddy about in whet:
- use of the terms "orgo" (the only correct abbreviation for organic chemistry btw) and "great british bake-off" (because this is the og title so treat it with respect) and "anoxic events" ('cuz this is how i will forever feel when reading about lukas and scarlett)
- "...oxygen and glucose and... porn?" IYKYK
- the best combo of science aka my job and swimming aka my favorite sport
- "it's just us. you're safe with me." CRYING.
- "i think dr. carlsen is the husband." CACKLING.
and last, but not least, the phrase I want my future partner to use to describe me:
- "shut the fuck up, you brilliant, beautiful genius." (affectionate)
Deep End by Ali Hazelwood
"From the very start, you had all the power. From the very start, I was in the palm of your hand."
No thoughts. Only Lukas Blomqvist. 💦
15 DAYS (A Deep End fanfic)
Pairing: Lukas and Scarlett from Ali Hazelwood's Deep End. Summary: 15 days. That’s how long Lukas was going to stay away from Scarlett. No talking. No texting. No fucking. Lucky for him, he still had his imagination and Scarlett's list of things she wanted him to do to her. Rating: Explicit.
Read a snippet below the cut or go straight to AO3 to read the entire fic.
There's something about an Ali Hazelwood book that just has me zooming through it till the wee hours of the morning on a work night.
Who cares that I have to open the branch in four hours when Adam Carlsen is saying "You can take it?"
currently reading Deep Dive (aka Whet), and man oh man I love Lukas. I have a bad history with men, so being in a room full of men, even those that I know wouldn’t do anything or even just my boyfriends friends who I would consider to be my own, and the fact he spotted that, got her out of the situation, and solved it for future reference without outing her trauma is heartwarming. I think people forget that even if trauma is something you talk about, it doesn’t give someone the right to tell another person because it’s not there’s to share, whether family member, friend or partner. I get this is bare minimum, trust me, but I appreciate when this type of subject is talked about without emphasizing someone is damaged or broken, just that boundaries are in place for a reason, and even if there wasn’t a reason, those boundaries are valid. i appreciate Ali’s writing so much.
