OC Housing pt. 7

Building in the Garden District is both extremely fun and challenging. Everything has to look grimey and gross enough while still being functional.

Margery’s “house” in Eel Pie Holm was quite the challenge to create. Ultimately, I scrolled through the debug menu for hours, piecing together each item just so while using enough live objects to make it functional.

With the largest lot available in Henford-on-Bagley, I created an entire road of the Garden District in Lud’s Holm. Most of these houses are just debug items equipped with windows, doors, and yards.

The backside of the lot even features a water fountain area, inspired by the water locations guarded by Headboys

Alas, the only functional house looks a little different because it has to be functional for Sims. No spoilers on who lives here yet ;)

OC Housing pt. 6

As some of you might know, I have a fic that I’m working on and sometimes, I need some visuals to help! As such, I’ve used The Sims 4 to help design these visuals :) You can already see some of my older designs while searching on my tumblr for OC Housing

The Waterloo Men’s Wear (home to Constable Millais) was inspired by an in-game building in the actual Waterloo Sqaure, featured in Victoria Byng’s We All Fall Down DLC. Just between the two statues is a smaller duplex which caught my interest. Half of it is fully functional in The Sims and the other half (once a little grocery store) is filled with clutter.

For the most part, I went with a functional copy of a generic Wellington Wells home for the design of the Whistler Home located in Maidenholm. It’s quite simple and I tried to remain true to the in-game design.

St. George’s Holm

Fic-Related and going under a cut!

Much like my Maidenholm Map, I placed icons over important places, places of interest, and land marks that players may want for reference. Where everything is placed is exactly where it spawned in the playthrough that I used for reference. As I mentioned with the Maidenholm Map, I’ve tried to include every act’s important locations.

And as usual, I’ve included a map without the words.

I noticed some characters spelling Joy with a capital J and some with a lower case J and I was wondering why? And how come there's Kity and Katherine?

Hi there

The lower and uppercase J depend on how important Joy is to the person that's talking or thinking about it. Joy was still important to Katherine in the beginning of the story, whereas it was never important to Mrs. Stokes.

Kitty is short for Katherine, as I'm sure you know, but she goes by Kitty whenever she's feeling good about herself. I hope that makes sense :)

OC Housing pt.3

There isn’t a lot big enough to fit the entire alley with the Stokes Home, Pritchard Home, and Mystery Building, so I did the next best thing and built the Stokes Home on the lot to the left of Kitty’s.

Her house is pretty accurate to the WHF design, only it’s two stories instead of three and has a few changes. For instance, Mrs. Stokes has a “hidden” garden in the upper right corner of the above pic, where she grows berries, carrots, potatoes, and onions.

I imagine that Mrs. Stokes keeps the house pretty “old fashioned” for the 60s. She loves pastels and the combination of yellow with blue or green.

Much like the Pritchard House, the upstairs had a little free space which was too small to really do anything with, so I made a sitting area on the north side of the house that represents the 60s and the south side clearly belongs to Mrs. Stokes and her knitting hobby.

With a new couple in the house, Imogene Stokes took the smaller room of the house and let the couple take the larger room. Both share the layout of their WHF bedroom counterparts with changes ~ no tv or bookshelves in the smaller room, no makeup table with a mirror in the main bedroom.

Maidenholm

Fic-Related and going under a cut!

As we all know, the islands of Wellington Wells generate differently each time we start a new game. They're also different depending on the act or DLC, so I wanted to kind of mash all of that together. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to really work in any of the districts from We All Fall Down simply because it would have made Maidenholm much larger than St. George's Holm, which is why there's a lot more space above the Waterloo House, but I tried :P

Any of the parks that appear to be missing generated in St. George's Holm, so I put them there. The Chemist 2 location is purely for fic-related reasons. Also, here's a less chaotic version the map without words.

OC Housing pt.2

It took hours going through every little item in The Sims 4 and using whatever I could to make Katherine’s house as close to the in-game inspirational houses. I’m really pleased with how it turned out. I had some sizing issues and I really struggled with the decision to put a half-bath downstairs or keep it closer to the We Happy Few house :3

I also decided that I really didn’t want a third floor, so I stuck to two.

While I could have made the house closer to the WHF game proportions, it wouldn’t have been a functional house in The Sims. Overall, I’m quite pleased with the changes that I’ve made and I’m happy with the overall look.

So, I did a thing...

I’m not sure if lengthy chapters are preferred or if shorter is better, but I thought short might be better for an introduction to the story. It may not be your cup of tea and that’s okay. It’s a slow start, but it’s a start :)

It should be noted that the story is rated Mature as it will have adult content later on.
