What happened to get you stuck in an elevator??? How far apart were the incidents? How long were you in there???
Just plain bad luck! The first was way over a decade ago now, a tiny elevator on a train station in France(?) that was only JUST big enough to fit one person and a bike with bags - maybe that disturbed the door enough that it wouldn't open on the ground floor? I know for a fact it had transported 4 other bikes without problems, though - I don't remember exactly how long I was in there for, something like 45 mins to an hour.
Second time was last year. There was absolutely no reason I could tell, it just got to the right floor, descended a few cm, and then stopped moving without opening the doors. That time I was with some other people, so I could assure them about the safety of elevators while the temperature got nice and toasty in there/s. Again, it took around 45 mins before we got out. The elevator got fixed and these days I still use it
Moral of the story is, I guess, if you're ever stuck in an elevator, expect to be in there for at least 45 mins?
