The group is hanging out at the café, all in different conversations when Jonathan comes into the bar and flops down on the couch. Camera bag sliding off his shoulders.
“When does this place start serving alcohol?” he groans.
“In about thirty minutes,” Nancy starts, “are you ok?”
Argyle trades places with Robin, sitting next Jonathan. “That bad?”
Jonathan nods, widening his eyes. “Messiest wedding I have worked months. There were so many things and they just piled on top of each other. The amount of bridesmaids and groomsmen that had previously slept together and didn’t know about it was insane.”
Steve and Eddie turn their heads at the same time. “What now,” Eddie says intrigued.
“I love messy shit I’m not apart of,” Steve mutters under his breath.
“It was crazy,” Jonathan sits up, turning toward Steve and Eddie at the side table. “And it all started for the most stupid reason. The guys apparently had a bet when to see how many of the bridesmaids they could sleep with. And the girls didn’t know about it, and a few of them fell with their ‘charms’ and were none the wiser. Until, one of the groomsmen said who won in their speech.”
“Holy shit,” Robin says with a sip of her tea.
Eddie winces. “That is such a dick move.”
“How likely was it that they were part of those fraternities that just liked to terrorize people,” Steve asks. Having almost accidently joined one of these fraternities when he was in college.
Jonathan nods with disgust. “That only scratches the surface. The best man had won, having slept with six out of the seven bridesmaids, and he was engaged to the maid of honor.”
Everyone winces with disgust.
“Not cool, dude,” Argyle says with disappointment. “So not cool. How can people do this to other people. And think that they can get away with it.”
“Because they’re inconsiderate assholes,” Steve says at the same the same time Eddie says “They’re disgusting bags of shit.” They high five each other.
Jonathan lets out a long breath. “And I’m not done yet. It gets worse.”
“Oh my god, how,” Nancy questions.
Argyle stands. “I’ll be right back, continue without me.” He walks over to the bar and starts to talk to the barista.
“He got bonus points for sleeping with the bride. And the second-place winner, was the groom.”
“Holy shit,” everyone says in unison.
Jonathan nods with wide eyes. “And the groom got a bonus point for sleeping with his future mother in law.”
They were too stunned to speak, just letting the silence fill that moment. Argyle returns with a cup of something and places it in Jonathan’s hands.
“What did I miss?” he asks, looking at them all super confused. “Are you guys broken?”
Steve shakes his head, trying to wrap his head around what was just said. “I don’t think I’ve heard that one before.”
“And this is coming from someone who has actually slept with one of his frat bro’s moms,” Robin interjects.
“On accident. And she was his stepmom, that was much younger than his dad, well after I was in college. He doesn’t know, it’s fine.”
“Did that cause another sex ban?” Eddie asks.
Steve laughs. “No, that’s when the figured out that the previous sex ban wasn’t working.”
Jonathan takes a sip of the drink Argyle gave him. “Jesus, that’s strong. Did you bribe them or something?”
“Something like that. Seriously though, what did I miss?”
“Groom slept with the future mother-in-law,” Robin fills in, Argyle winces. “What is with people?”
Jonathan shrugs. “Don’t know. But it was a big wedding that they are not getting a refund for. And I still got cake, well what was left of it.”
Eddie leans forward. “What was left of it?”
“Yeah,” Jonathan nods. “Speeches were right before cake, so the bride took the entire top layer and slammed it over the groom’s head. Followed by the maid of honor taking two giant handfuls and shoving it into the best man’s face. Arguments broke out and all that shit. I stayed back to help clean up.”
“Had they signed the marriage certificate yet?” Nancy asks.
Jonathan sighs. “No clue, don’t care. It’s over and I got paid. A lot. This was not a cheap wedding. Oh right,” Jonathan reaches down into his bag and grabs a takeout container, handing it to Argyle. “Saved you a piece of cake.”
Argyle takes it, opening it and starting to eat it. Nodding his head in appreciation.
The rest of the group looks at Jonathan. “Where’s our cake?” Robin asks, a little hurt.
“You don’t live with me, you don’t get cake.”

Atp, I'm gonna start thinking canon Baldwin may also have Vitiligo alongside the Leprosy.
Cuz I'm still in disbelief at dd2 Baldwin essentially implying that his Leprosy bleached the entirety of his dark skin??
Yeah Leprosy can cause hypopigmentation but to the point of Baldwin's portrayal?? Absolutely not. From pictures I've seen on medical forums and websites, that shit is patchy and uneven.
Vitiligo alongside Leprosy or just Eldritch Leprosy. Pick your poison lads.
We can always take comfort in the fact the Paisleys lost their seat :)
I wish I had the time to go into why this politician in particular losing his seat cheered me up so much this morning bc I know a lot of people don't know alot about the troubles and the history of Northern Ireland but unfortunately I don't so just knows its a big deal
I get that some people find the diagnosis is helpful and that’s fine because this is more of a systemic thing than an individual one. For me the treatment was helpful but the diagnosis sort of fucked me up for awhile. But, the more I learn about people and our brains the more annoyed I get at the concept of borderline personality disorder as a diagnosis.
Like, at least what I was taught in DBT is that people have different emotional needs and feel emotions at different levels of intensity. When people grow up in an environment where that it consistently invalidated, they develop a set of maladaptive coping mechanisms. The emotional intensity and maladaptive coping mechanisms are the BDP symptoms. The “personality” aspect is more about the length of time and persistence of these that these patterns have been repeated, not the more common understanding of who someone is.
And it’s like, why isn’t this just seen as trauma? Why do we use a super stigmatizing diagnosis that doesn’t actually convey much? If a diagnosis is desirable, why couldn’t it fall under the category of PTSD?
Now I’m reading this book about emotional neglect written by a therapist geared for an audience who had the same experience that BPD describes, although it discusses more of a spectrum of emotional intensity/sensitivity, not just the high end. It’s about trying to make some sense of where the adults in your upbringing were emotionally, and how to manage your relationship with them, and the emotional impacts of growing up with it.
Both of these have the same goal for the same type of person. And a big part in recovering in both is to accept that the emotions that were chronically invalidated are actually a normal, understandable human responses. But the more medicalized method also diagnoses the person with basically what amounts to Too Emotional Disorder, and there’s the “personality disorder” aspect of it to, which imo makes it really hard to not feel broken, or be seen as broken, and it’s like okay, fight through all this internalized and external stigma, and for what?
Every time I imagine zuala being killed my mind just goes crazy because we have so little information about how it went. I've been imagining the two of them brought before the tribe on a kind of trial, an official execution in which zuala happened to go first and which yasha was prepared to accept until she wasn't anymore.
But like what if it wasn't. What if they were out together and they were found by Skyspear and a hunting party and it was just that quick. Torn apart in the night, a confusing and horrifying shatter of a peaceful moment in which yasha was fighting the ones holding her down but it wasn't enough. We can't trust her assertion that she did nothing because she gives herself zero credit and summarizes things according to their results. Doing nothing, to her, would be the same thing as being unable to do anything. I've assumed yasha broke ranks when it was her turn to die in some tribunal affair but we just don't know. There's every chance they were found out and ambushed, especially since Skyspear was involved enough that feral yasha came back and wiped her out.
Also for chapter 1055, Robin was asking law how he found them(did you find us by smell) and he says no,I’m not an animal(hyena). He noticed she wasn’t celebrating with her nakama and thus why he figured out she must have found a poneglyph(the reason he is even there). Some translations said :” oh did you follow my scent ?” That prompted the shippers thinking she was flirting with him, she wasn’t. It’s obvious. Please don’t hate law cause of these delusional shippers. He doesn’t care about robin.
Hey there anon! Thank you!
I do agree with your anon! Law is smart and he is good at understanding people. He would have figured out that Robin not being around meant that she was on the case of something big. And what is there bigger but the Road Poneglyphs?
And the "you sniffed us out" is also interesting because that is was private detectives do... it's a metaphor. But if people translate it to "You followed my scent"... yeah that would have made me question it too. But that is the official translation.
I said similar things to your analysis in this post:
I always thought lawxrobin content was pretty weak and got shipped just because they're good looking, but 1055 made me a bit nervous, you th
I do think Law cares about Robin. But not romantically. He thinks she is an important asset and source of knowledge. I'm sure he appreciates her for that.
And no worries anon, I don't hate Law XD
I am not his fan, mostly because his design is not up my alley. I literally think he is unattractive for a drawn person. As I said on twitter, I'm not exactly fond of the goth look, tattoos and piercings. But that is a me-problem and a small one because again, he is not real. Also he has his very funny moments and I appreciate it.
I'm more angry about the fact that law - if from the real word - a German, doesn't like bread. HOW DARE YOU LAW?!
