I'm tired of gringos fucking colonizing my hometown everything's so damn expensive and gentrified now and like we're getting americanized developments and shit that just don't fit to local culture and are shamelessly advertised to USAmericans exclusively and there's sooo much traffic now
Like I used to get to work in 8 minutes without traffic 15 with, and now it's 40 minutes with minimum traffic 2 hours max
And I hate hate hate how they're getting rid of all the little things that made it my hometown because gringos don't actually like the local culture they just like the easy to consume slop tourist traps generate for them
Uggggh and it's like a solid 50/50 at fault of USAmericans with Columbus complex and the government, cause they fucked their tourist trap towns into unlivable hellholes with nice resorts that they can't juice for money as much anymore so they are marketing my hometown HARD to USAmericans
Just the fact that they lean into the white city angle is telling enough
Like all locals know that is a shameful nickname from the conquest days where only white "pure blooded" Spaniards were allowed to live within the city walls
The nickname has a horribly racist history from when the city was segregated and no mixed people, Mayas, or black people were allowed to live in it
And they market it to USAmericans as the white city because it's "safe", "clean", and "pure"
