Is It Alright?
Just the questions I wish I could really ask. Some I know the answers too. If only I knew all the answers. And yet somehow I think, even if I did, I still wouldn't know what to do.
Is it alright if I make a promise But one I only hoped I'd keep? And is it alright if I steal your heart And then leave you without while you sleep? Is it alright if the world turns To days that we pay no heed? And is it alright if I want someone Someone who don't make me bleed? Is it alright if the skies fall And if two suns come from one? Why did I put that X on your heart? And why did I fire that gun? Is it alright if I lie to you again Because there's something else that you can't see Is it alright if I show you I'm scum Cos you think too highly of me
Only The Deaf
This one seems oddly dark. And, at times, unfortunately cliche. Metal. Strange path for me.
You've put me in this awful state I am encrusted in your lies Rising rage fills my soul with hate Only the deaf can hear my cries Another thirty seconds and my head will explode I'm sick and tired of your pathetic game We've set out a journey on a hot coal road And things can never be quite the same Dead tar drips off my bleeding heart The engine in my soul still roars But this desire was doomed from the start Like writing on black doors You've put me in this awful state I am encrusted in your lies Rising rage fills my soul with hate Only the deaf can hear my cries Fifty daggers no less are lodged in my chest I suggest you remove them with haste I know what I know and what I know is best But to see such a fall is a waste The dead reach out to comfort me I accept them and say fuck you I'm surrounded by bones and free liberty In Hades maybe we'll be true You've put me in this awful state I am encrusted in your lies Rising rage fills my soul with hate Only the deaf can hear my cries The blind will scream and the numb will roar The lost will keep me instead Rest will only come forevermore Once I know that you are...
Son Of Mine
Whereas everything else I've posted has been kinda old, this one I actually wrote a few days ago.
The sun breaks brilliantly through from the greying clouds and sky Shining forth upon fresh fields of sweeping rye The flowers burst into a bloom of the greatest shades of colour Making country seem so much less duller The birds are singing sweetly in the trees above my head Church bells ring from the newlywed The hedgehogs poke out their noses as they feel the lack of cold Or so I'm told I'm talking to you, son of mine Listen clear, oh son of mine Oh my son who's dead You should've stayed inside instead Oh son of mine I'm talking to you, son of mine Why'd you die, oh son of mine? Oh son I love Son who looks on me from above Oh son of mine The slippers and pipe that I know so well invite me closer Quaint local fruit from the quaint local grocer The fire crackles amiably, burning to itself with content Filling the whole room with the quiet night scent The cat sits on my lap, happy with it's easy kitty home Garden stem pokes through from lowly loam I'm happy and comfortable, sitting here and growing old Or so I'm told I'm talking to you, son of mine Listen clear, oh son of mine Oh my son who's dead You should've stayed inside instead Oh son of mine I'm talking to you, son of mine Why'd you die, oh son of mine? Oh son I love Son who looks on me from above Oh son of mine You never were a man of Jesus or faith or afterlife But son you had your strife Now you're in a better place, of ivory and gold Of memories that we sold Of mysteries unrolled Of wonders to behold Of majesty and miracles and all the things that it should hold Or so I'm told
The Mystery of the Man and the Lake
I love this piece of storytelling. Supernatural things.
The aristocrats gaze upon in wonder The poets and constables begin to ponder The siblings' dress stained with mud The crimson reflection in seeping blood in Narcissus delight on the fallen steed And nobody knows what happened that night by the mansion of man's greed The forgotten brother cries at the moon The carriages arrive too soon The purple wind seeps in his brain The tears of angels or of rain fall on the fur of mistake And nobody knows what happened that night by the eighteenth century lake The white marble shines on sleeping trees The sudden change makes sudden breeze The god gift mud gives way again The man or beast once was a friend, roar of loneliness piercing soul And nobody knows what happened that night by the abandoned fishing hole The wretched crying heard from the wild The broken suit with nails filed The memories lost of other life The horses waiting for a wife at the ball that's missing he And nobody knows what happened that night by the darkest old oak tree The ailment carried to him unknown The search for science leaves man alone The secret colours the mind possess The missing of the white pure dress, a girl too easy to forget And nobody knows what happened the night by where young lovers met
Cards
One friend got this straight away. This pleased me greatly, since far too often people claim to be baffled by my writings.
The table was green with four men sat around it Staring intently and seeking mistake Eyes on their cards and hoods on their heads Secrecy reigns and looking to take The man in the green hood with the least chips He entered the game quite poor Red black and white fight for top spot They always hunger for more A card is turned over but a tarot appears Three jump, each pull out a gun In the fight that ensues one man steals the chips Once again Death has won
Righteousness Hall
This one's some lyrics I wrote, which we did turn into a song. The song itself is... Quite unlike anything else, a mixture of prog, psych, hard rock, spoken word, protopunk... Really, I love it. But these lyrics are really what drives it. I've always liked these, since the moment I wrote it.
The souls of the restless speak to me For mercy, joy or intimacy The dead can cry for ever more Where the Spirit killed them all Lying headless on floor In Righteousness Hall The soldiers fight for captivity Blinded by false loyalty Fight a war that cannot be won A soldier is within a shawl It's one for all and all for one In Righteousness Hall Fires creep up a city street A silent girl on silent feet A phantom dancing through the night Cinderella runs out from the ball She's ready to join the raging fight In Righteousness Hall The Queen and Darwin never meet But together form the word deciept Never seeing eye to eye Royalty spent in a foreign mall Her face is used for getting high In Righteousness Hall In Tin Can Alley paupers play And bards sing out words and say Beware young child don't be free Succumb to society's call Rebels spend lives of misery In Righteousness Hall Abraham spends his life so gay Men around him every day His wife stays at home and cooks His secrets with a roaming Gaul Forever remain in history books In Righteousness Hall Empires fell to foreign might Never go without a fight The rape and death that war breeds When easy peace is dishnourable The sex that Genghis Caesar needs In Righteousness Hall A ship sails away out of sight Along the sun into the night The sun itself then eats the waves Causing the unholy brawl Between the castles and the caves In Righteousness Hall Simon Peter in the sea alone at last Just a remnant of the past Remembering times when he was Part of the wailing wall Watching the fight and the fuss In Righteousness Hall A worm travels much too fast Eating through Odysseus' mast He lived to be two hundred and three He was once known as Saul Until he ate from the knowledge tree In Righteousness Hall Four young boys in a record shop One small run in with a cop Addiction to music drives the mind The order itself was much too tall You can leave your old life behind In Righteousness Hall The world itself will never stop Nor birds stop singing or flowers drop Apart from in one place Where all sense and sensibility fall Never show your face In Righteousness Hall
