If We Were Two Squirrels
A poem by Jazmyn Edmonds
If we were two squirrels, we’d chase each other through the great oak trees. If we were two birds, we’d sing from sunrise to sunset — you and me. If we were two stars, we’d shine together — no such thing as too bright. If we were two frogs, we’d take leaps of faith under the moon’s angelic light. If we were two cats, we’d play and curl up close all afternoon. If we were two flowers, we’d share our beauty with each other, yet give enough space to bloom. If we are two souls on this same timeline, then I know God to be true — because no matter what name, what body, what path, I’ll always end up with you.
