What's the difference between egglocke and mystery egg run ? I'll probably restart my Y file just for a mystery egg run :3
I’ve answered this before (I think) but I’m sure there’s still plenty of confusion, so I don’t mind explaining again. (Plus I’ll just add a link to this in the original post.)
An Egglocke is a nuzlocke variant in which a person uses eggs for their party’s pokemon instead of wild catches. As it is a nuzlocke variant, it can be inferred the team should be random - much as you wouldn’t be able to choose a party in a normal nuzlocke. It also includes the nuzlocke fainting rule, in which any pokemon that faints is considered dead and can no longer be used.
Some people play with more refined rules, but that’s the basic idea.
A Mystery Egg Run is when you receive eggs as soon as you can trade, and that is your team. The nuzlocke fainting rule does not apply.
While the idea here is that your team is a ~mystery~, it doesn’t mean you can’t refine it a little: someone can do a themed mystery egg run such as a mono-type, mono-color, rainbow, gen 1/etc only, so on so forth. If you seek a challenge, you could request weaker/harder to use eggs; if you want it to be easy, you can ask for stronger eggs. et cetera. Of course, all this can be done in an egglocke too, but y’know. The idea behind the original nuzlocke was to take what the game gave you.
In relation to the above paragraph, I am more than willing to satisfy any sort of theme/difficulty request.
The reason I’m choosing to no longer provide eggs for egglockers is because the idea behind my egg service is to help people who want to do things other than nuzlockes/nuzlocke variants, but over half the people requesting eggs were using them for egglockes. And while I love that people were using the eggs I gave them to have fun, I decided I should probably restrict the service to its intended use, which is to help people experience things beyond nuzlockes.
