      VOICE OF THE OTHER dredged his attention up from a encompassing haze , having fallen to such focus to ensure he kept pace. placing one foot before the other in a concentrated effort , willing his movements consistent as well as quiet. usually so innate a quality to his stride & step , one he would not take for granted again , it near consumed all his heed.

      WORDS SUCCINCT , CLIPPED & BITTEN in a pain he fought to conceal. the aim for reassurance had fallen sort , it lay solely within the words themselves , not in the tone nor cadence of his speech for all effort was placed in keeping it even & at volume to be heard. although contradictory did his assurances appear , he would not say so if he did not think he could manage. ‘tis no lie that fell past his lips , a tad breathless & terse though his speech was , he would not risk their safety nor comprise their purpose with foolish pride. he would keep up as promised.

So newly freed from the depths of the ocean, the little mermaid had watched in silent awe at the sight of the humans drinking and dancing. Their happy smiles and joyous laughs tugged at her. It was exactly what she had wished for -- to be among the humans and learn what they knew. Beneath the waves, there was no such holiday as Christmas, yet it seemed such a loving and happy holiday that she knew that she would have to teach her father and sisters the tradition of the most wonderful time of  the year. 

And of course this Jingle Bell Rock everyone had demanded to be played. She assumed it was a dance as people chattered and danced about her. 

Looking to the nearest woman, she reached out for her hand with a gentle, hopeful touch. “I think I saw you dancing,” Ariel told her, though she held doubt in her words if she truly saw the woman dancing, “Do you think you could teach me? We don’t do a lot of dancing where I’m from.”
