Can confirm. Absolutely stellar series. Just dive in Gardens of the Moon, enjoy the ride, and don't really expect things to make sense until book 2, Deadhouse Gates. Just trust me on this. There is no other book series, not Wheel of Time, Game of Thrones, or the Kingkiller Chronicles, certainly not anything by Sanderson.
FINE MAYBE I DO WANNA FUCK WHISKEYJACK OKAY??
Jemis, standing next to his disguised father: I miss my dad so much. He taught me so many things. I've been wrestling with his legacy my whole life. I'm so proud to be his son.
Jack, standing next to his incognito son: I miss my son so much. I'm so proud of him that my buddies tease me about how much I talk about him. I'm probably on a quest to murder my brother in order to restore my son's proper inheritance.
Me, reading this: slowly emitting steam like a kettle about to boil
Saw something.
Every time I've gone to this fucking mountain it's been crawling with whiskeyjacks and I've never had the right camera to take a picture of them and now that I actually had the right camera it took an hour for the little bastards to show up.
I love them. I love them so much
Just started Gardens of the Moon, and I gotta say that all these characters seem to be on the level, and I only see this ending with the good guys winning and the bad guys losing and absolutely no moral greyness whatsoever.
I'm especially rooting for the extremely traumatized suicide squad who are still loyal to the now-dead emperor to come out safe, happy, and well-adjusted.
Please, no spoilers.
