Hey guys. How's it going? 🙂 The weekend is upon us and what better way to kick back and relax than with this delicious Woodford Reserve, the Distiller's Select expression 😉. . Here is my review: . Nose: An expressive bouquet consisting of sweet notes of dried fruits, vanilla, orange, cocoa, tobacco and a drop of mint. . Palate: Fine and rich aromas of caramel, chocolate, cinnamon and cocoa powder, complemented by wood notes and fresh citrus accents. . Finish: Persistent, velvety, almost creamy. . Color: Amber. . I can say I really like it 🙂 It's a good solid bourbon 🇺🇸🥃. Have you guys tried it? How did you like it? This cocktail is a cool take on the classic whiskey sour. The strong flavor of blood orange juice is balanced by the richness of whiskey.

Ingredients: 2 oz whiskey. 1 oz fresh blood orange juice. 0.75 oz simple syrup. 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice. Blood orange slice, for garnish.

Instructions: In a cocktail shaker, combine whiskey, blood orange juice, simple syrup, and lemon juice. Fill the shaker with ice and shake well until chilled. Strain the mixture into a rocks glass filled with ice. Garnish with a slice of blood orange. Serve and enjoy!

Esta colección es considerada por la marca una selección de whiskeys ultra premium creados para establecer una categoría superior del bourbon y así apelar a los aficionados más serios. Knob Creek es el más antiguo de esa colección, lanzado en 1992 y añejado nueve años en barricas de roble y luego embotellado a 50% de alcohol. . Los aromas iniciales son profundos y ricos, de madera recién cortada, miel, maíz a la parrilla, vainilla, canela, azúcar morena y toffee. Dejándolo descansar un rato en copa y regresando a él después también logro apreciar chocolate, caramelo, tabaco y cáscaras de nueces. . En boca se siente como un whiskey fuerte, y con 50% de alcohol no cabe duda que lo es y sus sabores tienen tendencia picante, pero también incluye madera, pimienta, clavos y canela. Sin embargo, también hay un dulzor de azúcar morena, caramelo y mermelada de naranja, los cuales le dan un buen equilibrio contra la intensidad de esos sabores picantes. Amén de los sabores más obvios de vainilla, nuez moscada, canela, clavo, toques de chocolate y nueces. . Su intensidad hace que tomarlo con una piedra de hielo lo mejore muchísimo y si es con un cigarro, más aún. . Los productos de @jackdaniels_us siempre se han resistido a ser clasificados como bourbon, porque técnicamente no lo son, aunque mucha gente erróneamente los llame así. El producto es Tennessee Whiskey, pues pasa por un proceso de filtrado (algo no tradicional entre los productores de bourbon) conocido como el proceso Lincoln County. Este proceso involucra el filtrado del whiskey a través de una columna de carbón (producido por ellos mismos) para eliminar sabores indeseados y contaminantes antes del añejado. . Para el Gentleman Jack la destilería simplemente pasa el whiskey una segunda vez por el mismo proceso de filtrado que pasó su Old No. 7. Luego es embotellado a 40% de alcohol. . El Gentleman Jack tiene un aroma fuerte de madera, como buen whiskey americano. Pero le acompañan aromas de caramelo, jarabe de maíz, vainilla y almendras. También tiene aromas de miel y mermelada, tabaco, manzana verde y mazapán. . En boca hay toques más agresivos de madera, pero le siguen sabores de maíz, jengibre y sabia que me recuerdan más al No. 7. Los aromas de grama y menta en el retrogusto me llevan a pensar en tabaco de cigarrillos, pero en nariz hay una buena cantidad de aromas que prometen ser dulces y en boca no llegan a serlo. . Inevitablemente, el bourbon y el Tennessee whiskey siempre tendrán un fuerte componente de madera. Pero, aunque el Gentleman Jack es un paso en la dirección correcta del Old No. 7 tradicional, cuesta llegar a sabores adicionales como muchos otros whiskies americanos parecen alcanzar. .
