So I rambled about this potential idea on my Instagram, so I’m going to post it here as well!
I love utilizing these rings for Whispale — or WhisperWeave if you will. I especially love it because, in my canon, Gale’s really keen on helping Whisper connect with his magical roots, teaching him how to cast whatever spells Whisper’s heart desires!
After posting about Whisper’s expanded lore (see my pinned blog post), the idea hit! Since Whisper doesn’t feel physical pain while on the material plane, this could make the magic of the ring work in a most peculiar way! What if when Whisper casts warding bond to protect Gale and share in whatever damage he takes, Gale doesn’t feel pain anymore because of Whisper’s condition.
I know I’m not the only one that’s a fan of the idea of Gale dealing with chronic pain caused by the Netherese orb, so this idea could be taken further that Whisper casting warding bond negates that too.
I hope I don’t sound dumb talking about this kind of what-if, but I’m trying to post more about my ideas and such!
