I hate the phrase "As useless as a white crayon"

Nothing is useless if you give it purpose.

Here is a simple design I made using a white crayon and some watercolour.

I'm sure it would've turned out better if I had used watercolour paper...but I used what I had on hand.

I challenge everyone reading this to find a creative use for the white crayon. It doesn’t have to involve colouring!

What's with people not using white crayons???

I always use them to fade out or blend colours? Sure the colours aren't as bright than but the have a cleaner look then

To all my “white crayons” that never get any attention and feel worthless -

I use white crayons to keep watercolor from running outside the lines because of the wax. It’s not that you’ll never be worth anything to anyone, you just need to find friends creative and accepting enough to love you as you are. And if you don’t feel like waiting around, you can create beautiful works on your own. Go and decide your own future, I believe in you.

Are there really people who think white crayons are useless? Have they never heard of black construction paper??

I don't understand the white crayon hate.

I've seen a bunch of posts going around recently joking that the white crayon is "useless" and I just don't get it.

Look, I didn't learn much in school, on account of the fact there were Garfield the Cats to doodle and unflattering caricatures of my classmates to be drawn, but the one thing I did work out as a kid was that the white crayon is the ultimate blending tool.

Got a crayon drawing, but you're not 100% happy with how it all blends together? Fly, my white crayon! Fly, my beauty, and prove your worth!

I wish I could show you what I mean, but I no longer own crayons as, uh, I'm not eight.  

White crayons help the other crayons to be the best crayons they can be! Don't hate!
